Radars detect images from all angles. That's why I found it odd for there to be no contacts in the middle of New York Harbor. If the radar was on the rotating set it would still detect the statue.

EvilHomer - 2015-02-26 ... which brings us back to how crap your Coast Guard training must have been. If radar detected things in all directions, then even after moving, the radar would have still shown the statue. It also would have shown other stuff in the harbor. It didn't, ergo radars only work in one direction. QED.

Cena_mark - 2015-02-27 I guess you could feasibly have a radar work in only one direction if you kept the transmitter/receiver stationary.
