The sad irony is, he's right! He *did* have ownership over his own life. He *was* responsible for his own reality. I don't think he ever fully accepted that idea, though. A lot of people thought Nick was a hypocrite for claiming that nobody else had any control over him, despite spending nearly all his time ranting about how Other People - bureaucrats, trolls, his ex-lover Happycabbie - were conspiring against him and dragging him down.
Yet I think it was more than just simple hypocrisy. I think Nick spent so much time dwelling on the power that he believed others held over him, because he _knew_ what a mess he'd made of his life. He couldn't accept the truth: that life was how he made it, and how he made it, was a complete failure. This video, like so many others that he made, is not a rant or a threat or a monologue, but a sad soliloquy in which two sides of Nick's tortured psyche battle amongst themselves.
