I know they're wrong on the specific topic of vaccinations, but at the same time, postwar chemistry has made some glaring blunders (raise your hand if you're a thalidomide baby) and it's only a matter of time before we discover the next thing that isn't perfectly safe after all.

Exactly what you said, Bort. While the evidence is very much against the antivaxxers, there has been a good deal of scientific precedent for stuff like this - DDT, fossil fuels, asbestos, CFCs, cocaine, tobacco. Hell, people used to feed gin to children until the rich Protestants started bitching (and drinking gin was probably a good thing, given the state of water at the time).

Right now, thanks to the explosion of technology made possible by our free scientific society, there's a lot of candidates on the table - cellphones, flouride, GMOs, soft drinks, microwaves, TV, clop porn, skinny jeans, anti-depressants, vaccines (with each individual vaccine needing to be considered separately), and more than a thousand other things. Most of these things will probably turn out to be harmless; some of them will turn out to be harmful. One or two may actually kill us.

If I'd have to guess, I'd say they next "DDT" will be flouride. It's nowhere near as dangerous as DDT (even the worst conspiracy theorists would admit this), but the weight of scientific evidence is turning against it, and the United States is one of the only nations on earth that still thinks artificially flouridated water is anything but snake oil.

Please. The DDT is a weak-to-average maneuver at best! It's popular because it's easy to do and none of the big, doofy wrestlers that Vince loves to push are technically skilled enough to perform more lethal attacks.

If God had a sense of justice, the most lethal chemicals would be contained in mason jars and kale chips.

What country is Glyphosate illegal in ROUS? I know it's legal in Netherlands, Russia, and Mexico, which are generally the ones (incorrectly) cited.

I suppose, if you want to split hairs, the ban hasn't taken place in the Netherlands yet. And the ban will apply to private parties but not the government. But those are some flimy grounds on which to declare glyphosate-based herbicides "legal".

That's actually (a clone of) the exact article which makes the incorrect claims, Bort. They conflated some Russian and Mexican restrictions on GMOs with somehow banning Glyphosate. Not only is Glyphosate legal and commonly used there, Russia is big on developing their own production:
