Sanest Man Alive - 2015-03-10
Cool Cat has pretty terrible advice re: cyberbullying, and pretty much everything else.

Old_Zircon - 2015-03-10 That "my hands are full" joke is pretty damn meta. The guy who made this video completely missed it.

|
Cena_mark - 2015-03-10 Here we go. Typed "That kid kicked sand in Cool Cats face" and there's already videos of it.

I'd like to think that Estrada was (1) drunk the whole time and (2) trying to turn this into SeaLab 2021.

infinite zest - 2015-03-10 That's what I was thinking: what KID is going to recognize Erik Estrda? Since the mid-90s with Space Ghost C2C (and of course Sealab) he's been riding the wave of irony. Even on Space Ghost when I was a teen, I was like "who?" He'd be great if he made a Sesame Street appearance in my mind (maybe he has), but that'd be lost on the target audience, who would at least recognize more "adult" actors, even if they weren't allowed to watch The Hunger Games, etc. Vivica A Fox was a voice on Scooby Doo, so maybe, but most of her movies are stuff like Kill Bill. Again, not really a good influence.
Other things too: you have to REALLY TRY to make a website look like a Geocities/Angelfire site from the 90s these days (it's harder than you think), and by all accounts it's regularly maintained as it says "copyright 2015" at the bottom. Most of this skepticism is nothing new: I had to go back and find the trailer from last summer where we were discussing Cool Cat because I wasn't about to play that stupid .swf game but it goes back to a name when you beat it: Jason Gullifer. Besides some guy getting his PhD in Pennsylvania with that name, all the results are from a comedian in Los Angeles. It's kinda odd: in a way, I want this all to be real and everything to just be a coincidence, but if it is an act, it's fucking brilliant.

infinite zest - 2015-03-10 I mean, like a "Better than almost everything on Adult Swim since they cancelled Sealab 2021" kinda good. And that's a good thing.
|
infinite zest - 2015-03-10 Heh.. should've watched pt 2 first. I haven't seen it all, but that's pretty much the first thing he addresses. Like "hey kids, remember the car from Smokey and the Bandit?"

Old_Zircon - 2015-03-10 The DVD is already sold out on Amazon.
|
Old_Zircon - 2015-03-10 But you can buy them direct on ebay from user cool_cat_store
|
Old_Zircon - 2015-03-10 If you have 00 you can also buy that signed Eddie Van Halen guitar, which means that he wasn't just showing it off in the movie, that was PRODUCT PLACEMENT FOR HIS OWN EBAY ITEM.
|
hammsangwich - 2015-03-10 Erik Estrada has been riding the irony wave for years. My buddy has a random VHS copy of an episode of Talk Soup he was on (with John Henson) where he just randomly showed up and Henson says "Hi Erik, why don't you go whittle some wood?" and Erik says "Choo got it mang" and then Henson says "Erik Estrada, everyone! He brought his own knife!"
|
Caminante Nocturno - 2015-03-11 Talk Soup never got better than it was under John Henson. I think I still have some old tapes full of nothing but Talk Soup and Samurai Pizza Cats.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-03-11
The way the bully is drawn in the book makes him look like he's in his 30's.
|
EvilHomer - 2015-03-12 It's OK, Caminante. You're never too old to hang out with kids.
