To be fair, Ireland is only just now emerging as a 2nd world country from being a 3rd world country.

To be fair, Britain is only just now ceasing to back horrible reactionary militias like the UDA and UVF, content with playing local tribes off one another to deflect from its own imperialist policies like it has for centuries, lending to the destabilization of such societies.

To be fair, the Irish never really had a society until the English showed up, and never showed an ounce of gratitude when they were finally given one.

To be fair, Potatoes

To be fair, England failed at several earnest attempts to exterminate the Irish and is playing the long game by infecting the island with virulently protestant Scots, a bold and risky move akin to weaponizing smallpox. Which they have also done.

The film '71 (2014), although fictional, is worth checking out.

It's been a while since I've had to think about the Troubles. I'm glad those days are long gone.

Void 71 - 2015-03-20

As near as I can figure, the Troubles was the culmination of a hundred-some-year bender. It ended when the hangover kicked in and everyone forgot why they were fighting. It was the most confused, booze-soaked civil war since the Hatfield–McCoy feud.

Syd Midnight - 2015-03-25

The last 100 years only comprise parts 5 and 6 of the saga. So the Troubles was like just the "Return of the Jedi" of the whole England/Ireland epic.
