Seconded. We had it at the movie theatre I was working at, and besides a few old people who thought it was a documentary, nobody saw it because it came during the middle of a film festival. Because of this it didn't even get its initial run until thursday evening and it was just gone by the time the papers actually ran the issues with the review. Really sad. It's probably the best coming of age movie you'll ever see.

Oh yeah! He was Capone. I knew I had seen him elsewhere. I thought he deserved a best actor nod for this. I'd like to check out the miniseries too but had forgotten they existed. What I liked about this one was how innocent it was especially in the kid's eyes, and I've known plenty of "good" suede/skinheads who still have to say that because of all the bad associated with the evolution of the counterculture but aren't about to fuck you up, well maybe in a pit but they'll be the first ones to extend an arm if they knock you down.

I didn't think this film needed to be expanded upon, but the miniseries is pretty good - worth checking out. I think I remember reading there's going to be a new installment sometime very soon. I like Shane Meadows, he has some chops and his films always have a lot of heart with no trace of pretension.

This Is England '90 would especially fascinate me: in the states anyway that was about the first time that I heard the term in relation to the death of Mulugeta Seraw, which happened less than a mile from the house I grew up in. So "skinhead" in the 90s always meant "mean guys with baseball bats" to me.

I was oblivious to the fact that early Skinheads had roots in Jamaican/rude boy culture. It's a shame racist nationalists fucked it up so thoroughly. They were pretty snappy dressers.

@IZ they are making a 90's version, but it has been postponed due to meadow's other endeavors. all of the miniseries are amazing (MARRY ME LOL)
