I never knew the RAF had women pilots back then. Were they combat or just flying them between bases etc?

Kieran27 - 2015-06-24 No combat pilots as far as I know, the women were only allowed to do ferry service for planes. Flying them from factories and airfields to the front lines, and then flying back damaged planes for repair. Still pretty dangerous duty as enemy pilots would only see an allied plane, not who was piloting it.
That was the RAF though. Russia had actual women combat pilots during WWII.
