I honestly wasn't surprised. 2000 was the first election I could vote in, and I had just turned 18. I know Madison Wisconsin's a bit of a bubble but it was Nader v. Gore. Bush wasn't even on the radar screen. But even then I was thinking how easy it would be for someone to just waltz right by.

And it's not exactly like we were happy with the democrats then: there was Whitewater, Monica Lewinsky, etc. and as far as I'm concerned both Clintons are guilty of murder for the former, and as we all know the blowjob for the latter. So of course idealistic fresh-out-of-high-school kids would flock to something new, why wouldn't they? But I knew it was going to fuck everything up so I canvassed for Gore, and already being the new kid on campus from halfway across the country with no friends, I made a lot of enemies too.

But Jeb helped kill Terri Schiavo too so who knows?
