Well, to be fair, they were "sort of" making the movie for at least a decade, kinda like Dre was making a new album for 15 years..

And no doubt this was an opportunistic move, to strike while the iron's hot, but arguably race relations haven't changed that much between 2005 and 2015, so I don't consider it exploitative. There was just a catalyst within the past year that made NWA more relevant than in 2005, even though everybody who was racist in 2005 is just as racist in 2015.

I never liked NWA. I didn't like how white middle class friends of mine either thought they were gods, and tried to emulate them, or thought the ghetto was funny, so they listened to this stuff as a joke as parties.

I also grew up in a part of town where black people were shooting and stabbing each other and there was blood on the sidewalk and people were scared to go out at night. What I didn't like was that they were telling it like it was, but at the same time embracing the culture of misogyny, violence, materialism, and homophobia. At the same time, they had plenty to be angry about. I'm sure white people complaining about this shit is one reason why it continues to be popular, and black people had never been allowed to truly express their anger before, but what good did it really do to anyone but themselves?

You know when you say "What I got you gotta get and put it in you?" How about "What I'd like is I'd like to hug and kiss you".
