plenty for the groin-knifing crowd, certainly...

Kid Fenris - 2015-09-13

I will enjoy this game if it has a scene where you're telling your troops to be quiet and Quiet keeps saying "What?" or "Yes?" Wouldn't that be a knee-slapper?

But she's mute, so I doubt there's any such scene.

Bort - 2015-09-14

I don't know anything about this game except the couple videos I've seen here. So do I understand that she is one of the good guys but she needs to expose as much skin as possible to survive, and she has no ability to express her opinions? What more could a person ask for?

Oscar Wildcat - 2015-09-14

A cupholder for your beer. Duh!

chumbucket - 2015-09-14

As best I can tell it's a lot like most other MGS games: 15% playing, 85% watching.

infinite zest - 2015-09-14

It's actually the opposite. I've literally spent a couple hours on a single mission just to get a little credits sequence. Like I said below I'm pretty early in the game, but most reviews I've read say that it's pretty light on the story side of things, which is fine for me. It's a far cry from the "walk ten steps and take out a guard and here's 30 minutes of dialogue" MGS of old. The cutscenes are incredible but they're just the sprinkles on an already delicious birthday cake.

Also, for a (mostly) non-gamer like myself it's incredibly satisfying. It's tough but fair: there's no easy or hard mode; the game adapts to you, allowing you to bust through missions wearing a chicken hat so you can just run past guards and get a shitty grade. Hardcore gamers might complain about this, but for me it's fun. I dunno, since it's the only game of this year I've played it's hard for me to say "game of the year," but I will say that it's the last game I've played since MGS1 where I have made excuses not to go out and such, and show up to work with a mild MGS hangover, where I'm sort of instinctually peering through walls and such.

Then again I'm not watching this since I'm not that far. Seriously, I got the game the day it came out, about 14 days ago, and I've been playing it with most of my free time.. how the fuck do these people get so far so quickly?

She isn't mute, she has a parasite that will kill her if she ever speaks English. And apparently something something camera always on breasts something

chumbucket - 2015-09-15

I'm happy the MGS folks finally decided to put game back in their games. I gave up on it years ago, I think it was on the Dreamcast system, having to sit through scene after scene of jokes and smarmy blah blah.

Tough American Bouncer - 2015-09-14

So, is she Lisbeth from the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo?

That guy - 2015-09-14

I hope that this breaks the Amazon/Valkyrie trope.

I'm not sure how much farther it can go, or how much longer it can go on for.

Two Jar Slave - 2015-09-14

I just wish I didn't have to watch 4 whole minutes of flips and karate to atone for a mere 20 seconds of gawking a lady's tits while she's being choked to death in a water trough. I support the debasement/glorification model of female characterization, but this is, what, a 12:1 ratio? We can do better, people.

Two Jar Slave - 2015-09-14

What was the origin of the "action heroine jumps onto a guy's shoulders and straddles his neck to death" move? Famke Janssen's baddie did something similar in Goldeneye, crushing men with her thighs, and I think she was the first to pull that in a movie. But I don't remember her actually hopping up onto her adversary's shoulders and spinning around, like they do now.

zerobackup - 2015-09-15

See also: Pris in Blade Runner.

Two Jar Slave - 2015-09-19

Excellent. Now we're getting somewhere.

takewithfood - 2015-09-14

I have to admit, it's pretty clever how they got people to buy a direct-to-video movie for .

lotsmoreorcs - 2015-09-14

i don't get how whenever a triple A ps4 title comes out everyone here shits on it, witcher 3 wasn't that bad, neither was arkham knight...are you guys just all PC master race cats or just hate fun or what

infinite zest - 2015-09-14

TWF, I'd agree with you on any of the other MGS games I've played. Even though the 16 year old me was blown the fuck away by the original's graphics and atmosphere it's like "ok get on with it.." even now I don't really care about the story too much, but by MGS3 it was story over substance..

And I'll admit I'm only 7% through the game, but it's been hours of really great gameplay with very short cutscenes. In fact most of the "cinematic" stuff is just in the game, with scenes I won't give away. I paid 50 bucks for my 360 version and I probably would've paid more, since I could basically not go to movies or shows or buy food and still be a happy fox.

Aelric - 2015-09-14

Someone hasn't tried or read a thing about this one, huh? Kojima barely told a sotry here and instead had a proper game for once. I know, it's nuts, not even joking, I get why someone would make that assumption, but it's true, this game is pretty good to play if there were zero story, which there almost is. You've already seen most of the story here on PoeTV already, really.

takewithfood - 2015-09-14

Really? Well, that's new. No, I haven't paid any attention to this game beyond the few videos that have popped up here. It just looked like the same sort of long action sequence cut scene that always leaves me wondering why I'm watching these parts instead of getting to play them.

atheistgirl - 2015-09-14

Now that is some serious anger management issues.
And why is she wearing so few clothes?

atheistgirl - 2015-09-14

Ok, so I know the answer to my question now - having to breath through your skin is both ridiculous and just an excuse to have her practically naked.

infinite zest - 2015-09-14

That's exactly what I've been telling the cops! Little Finite Zest needs to breathe, damnit!

Aelric - 2015-09-14

Funny thing is, there is another character, an old man, that breaths through his skin too but he wears a nice suit and long pants, so it doesn't even work in their flimsy justification.

A secret bonus outfit you can give her dresses her up like a real soldier with pants and body armor. I eventually put that on her because I was getting embarrassed every time someone else glanced at the screen and she was waving her butt in my face in the background during the mission planing phase.

EvilHomer - 2015-09-14

Ooooh maaaan, move over Laughing Octopus, there is a new MGS waifu in town.

Maru - 2015-09-14

shockingly banal
