Lies! That's just regular pork!

Parenting tip: You convince children who live underwater of pretty much anything.

Usually they are excited about the egg.

Xenocide - 2015-10-31

Ponyo was hatched from an egg, so she's focusing on the ham so she doesn't have to think about the moral questions raised by this meal.

Caminante Nocturno - 2015-10-30

Hot ham AND hot ham water?? Someone's showing off!

Doc Victor - 2015-10-30

Pwned, yo

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-10-30

I never saw this movie. I distinctly remember making someone I used to work with really angry by telling him Ponyo made me really hungry and all the preview did was make me want sushi.

Cena_mark - 2015-10-30

Ponyo is great. Its my second favorite Ghibli film behind the badass Whisper of the Heart.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-10-30

I haven't seen that one, either. The only ones I haven't seen are those, Porco Rosso and The Wind Rises.

Bobonne - 2015-10-31

Porco Rosso is really good.

Haven't seen TWR yet.

"Spirited Away" is my personal fave with "Naussica" and "Princess Mononoke" both sharing second.

My younger nephew loves "Ponyo". I think his favorite part is where she hits the "amphibian" stage and sprouts those little newt hands & feet.

Cena_mark - 2015-10-31

It seems like a lot of adult Ghibli fans dismiss Ponyo for being too kiddy and plagiarized from The Little Mermaid.

Xenocide - 2015-10-31

My favorite Miyazaki film is Castle of Cogliostro (which isn't Ghibli since it predates the studio's founding) followed by Porco Rosso. But Ponyo is great too, you just need to be prepared to watch it for the fantastic animation, and not for the plot, which is as thin as a minimal slice of ham.

I only ever saw Spirited Away in my International Cinema class. I remember absolutely loving it, but damn me if I can remember any of it. I remember a old lady with a big nose and some running on top of a wave of some sort. I was kind of half-asleep at the time and hating school, so I really should give it another go.
