Oh.. I actually turned out watching a few minutes of it. I didn't know the What What In The Butt people tried to sue South Park, or that that was even an episode. I think it was already on Youtube but the theatrical short was shown at the Milwaukee International Film Festival where I was working so I met the guys and got kinda drunk with them. They don't seem like the kinds of guys who would sue over a parody, since their video was a parody in the first place. Interesting.

Actually I might have seen this episode. I don't really catch South Park but one of my friends likes to have little south park parties and there's free beer, so I'm usually not in a good state to remember too clearly. Is this the one where all the internet celebrities at the time like Chocolate Rain, Star Wars Kid, Leave Britney Alone etc. all have a congress about this very issue?

Yeah. That episode sticks out ot me because it's clearly one where Matt and Trey said, "Meh, internet stuff might become profitable but it's too early to tell and you'd be retarded to take it seriously at this point," but have since gone, "Well shit, guess this is a thing after all," resulting in the implication that sufficiently popular YouTube commentators shed their physical forms and become virtual beings of pure information. Another case the The Cissy, where the moral was, "Eh, just let it happen, don't be a dick about it," followed by the entirety of Season 19, where the moral is, "Political correctness is disconnecting us from reality and is literally driving us insane; it has to stop or society is fucked."

I've only seen a few episodes of the new season, since they're free on Southparkstudios.. I liked the Whole Foods thing but the PC Police theme is getting kinda old, and feels like it could've been condensed into one episode instead of what I assume is drawn out throughout the season. I dunno.. has it really been 19 years?

Totally off topic LJ time, but the guy who made the documentary 6 Days to Air about South Park moved in next door to my parents house. I found this out because my parents are fairly oblivious to what I like now and just remember my 14 year old taste in stuff, when jokes about anal probes and bleeped out fucks were the bees knees.. but maybe I'll talk to him when I go over for Thanksgiving. A documentary about POE would actually be pretty interesting.. hmm.. (anyway end of LJ time)

That 6 Days documentary was quite revealing in how theyhaven't given a shit about South Park in since Book of Mormon. You'd figure with the speed in which they can animate, that they'd put some more time into writing.

I kinda wish the same thing with RLM, that they'd get back to Plinkett. I like 'em, but recently it feels like having a conversation with myself about a movie which I guess is fine but I miss the sort of MST3K-ish fictional stuff which separated them from the bunch.

and the YMS video on Cool Cat might be the one video where Derek has a point. He basically shows the entire video. Every scene, every line of dialog. At what point does it stop being a review and parody? It's essentially a MST3k spoof and there's no way those movies fall under fair use.

Yeah.. I was convinced it was a stunt for Nathan For You for the longest time actually.. like, why would your website for kids link to your adult fiction page and Playgirl Magazine and even have a separate character named "Trolly the Trout?" And like I said above, some of it is probably milking that aspect but he does take it seriously. Or he's the world's best troll.
