Angry(although probably exaggerated for effect) sure, but insecure? It just appears like a random insult in order to make it seem like anyone who thinks that people who want to hack off their genitals might not be the most balanced and mentally healthy individuals are close-minded bigots.

I respect your opinion, SDC, and I am glad you chose to share it. I understand where you're coming from, and I hope you do not take any abusive comments to heart.

However, I have to point out: sex is not gender. Sex is biologically determined, but gender is a cultural construct, and while gender is to a degree informed by biology (a much greater degree than some people feel comfortable admitting!), it is not wholly determined by biology, and ultimately (as with all things cultural) it is completely within the individual's right to "invent" whatever suits their fancy! What's more, some studies have supported the contention that trans-individuals are indeed biologically predisposed to being "different", due to factors like abnormal brain chemistry. If true, this would mean that trannies (in general) are neither "faking it" nor "making things up", but simply responding to objective, biological reality! You might not "see" a woman when you look at an "incredibly obvious transsexual", but that could simply be because your eyes are not equipped to see that woman's underlying genetic and neurochemical abnormalities.

Your complaint about others forcing you to lie is completely valid, however! Culture wars are as a seesaw being ridden by two great big fat people, with tolerance balanced precariously in the middle - it is very hard to get large mobs of people to reach an equilibrium, particularly here in the West, where we've built a culture that discourages civil debate, and encourages partisan polarization and flagrant bias.

If a trans-individual should not be forced to lie about what (s)he believes (her) gender to be, then you should not be forced to lie about what you believe, either.

So, nothing then? Good to know.

Furthermore, I don't think anyone is accusing transgenders of "faking it". I'm sure they legitimately believe that their "true" gender is not reflected by their actual biological genitalia. However, that in itself does not mean they are not suffering from mental illness, anymore than someone who truly believes that they are Jesus Christ means that they are not mentally ill. Everything is determined by the biological makeup of our brain, whether someone is transsexual or not. If there is something distinct about the brain chemistry of someone who identifies as transsexual compared to someone who has an identity disorder, I would be happy to learn more about it. I really mean that, I'm not trying to be an internet asshole.

Is there any sound argument for how this different from any other body dysmorphia disorder? The 90 pound anorexic who thinks they're too fat? The body integrity identity person who wants to cut off their arms because they think they're someone else's?

I mean if they want to 24/7 cosplay as a woman, whatever who really cares. I've worked alongside multiple such transgendered coworkers and didn't treat them any differently.

So don't hate and don't discriminate, but why do we have to play along that the emperor is wearing fabulous new clothes? Why does this reality perception deserve more legitimacy and mandatory respect than a person who swears that god speaks to them every day? Why is someone the next Aaron McKinney or Russell Henderson for not fawning over how beautiful Kaitlyn Jenner is?

BDD is a fairly standard psychological disorder, there's a fair bit of evidence that Transgenderism is for the most part, influenced by hormones in the womb so it's very much physical/physiological as well as psychological.

While therapy and standard SSRI treatment helps BDD sufferers, the opposite is observed in Transpeople, where hormone therapy is most effective in reducing all the anxiety, depressive traits, suicidal ideation etc

So basically despite them seeming similar (to an outsider) at surface level, the underlying mechanisms, causes and treatments are very different in that the medical community finds physical/surgical intervention removes most of the anxiety, hostility, depression and the concomitant gender dysphoria. In BDD there is no statistically significant alleviation via surgical methods so therapy is the chosen 'fix'.

Now I get why people are annoyed by this abusive ageplay fetishist in the video, but I don't think she represents anyone other than herself, and poorly. She clearly has other deep issues besides transitioning.

I also get why non-Trans folk are pissed off by Trans activist/tumblr types but I think at the core of their argument it's possible for us non-Trans to meet them halfway. Their contention is that transphobia leads to trans people being killed/committing suicide and this is largely supported by existing data, so if all it takes is for society to say 'I don't get it but sure, I'll let them get on with it' and for there to be a resultant drop in deaths, that can only be a good thing, right? /ramble

Here's the thing: I was raised in the LGBTQBLT community from birth and, unlike a lot of people, don't feel the need to prove my street cred by treating them like precious angels. Hate to break it to you, but a ton of them are neurotic, self-absorbed people who can only talk about themselves.

Personally, I hate any gender/sex/whatever dichotomy because I think they're tedious. Just be a goddamned person already and quit staring at you crotch. I don't want to talk about your genitals. I am not your therapist, and getting enraged because you Frankensteined yourself into some bizarre hybrid creature and then demanding I call you beautiful and inspiring is exactly the sort of narcissistic thing people who stare at their crotch all day would do.

Unless you're a doctor or a human rights activist working to enact actual change, genital-obsessed people are the worst fucking people.

I just don't give age in years much attention, that's more of a media topic, as in, 'Full Grown Man Thinks He's A Dog'. The press likes that kind of thing.

I've always thought of myself as more of a pup, probably because of when my Canine identity began, and then starting in junior high I had a fear of growing up and becoming expressionless and with adult responsibility.

I go by some form of Dog years, and used to bark to people that I'd be a four year old Dog, but then Dog science found that the 7 year rule didn't work for all breeds, and was also not the same ratio over a Dog's lifetime, plus adding anthro to the mix, that kind of messed things up.. ;)

His Twitter page is pretty entertaining. Any time anyone says something about how absurd it is to say you're totally a six year old or comments on the fact that he abandoned his kids he responds with "TRANSPHOBIC TROLL!" and threatens to beat them up.
