Drug dealers would also agree with this.

Cena_mark - 2016-01-04

Right. Cause they don't care about your health and well being. They just want to keep you alive enough to purchase your next dose. They'd love to keep this poison illegal so they can continue to rule the market.

infinite zest - 2016-01-04

Yep. That's why I'm glad it's legalized. I won't lie I've trimmed in plenty of houses that grew and sold it, and probably still do, and they're some of my best friends, and I've smoked enough weed to last a lifetime, which is kind of why I quit. But like I said in a previous post, it depends on the dealer. In Oregon weed was basically legal before legalization: a friend who sells was telling me about when he first moved down to Seattle and got lost in a particularly bad neighborhood. They'd hotboxed the car and had a shit-ton of weed in the trunk. A cop stopped them to let them know that they should not be in the neighborhood.. gave them directions and said "smells good in there" and drove off. That's always been the approach to marijuana for the most part out here.

Now, you might as well be driving drunk and reeking of whisky when an officer pulls you over, because it's treated as a DUII. You have to be 21 years old to possess it just like alcohol. Chances are most kids will drink and smoke before their 21st birthday: I got shitfaced at some keg party when I was 12 and puked all over the place, learned my lesson, and got way too high to take a test in middle school. Again, I learned my lesson. So that's kind of why I don't go to a bar to get shitfaced, or smoke weed until I completely can't think, which is the case if you smoke it like a goddamn cigarette.

Problem is it became legal so quickly that lots of people don't know what they're getting themselves into, but it still beats the alternative of the reason I quit smoking when weed from someone I didn't know was laced with a more addictive substance and poisoned my ex in a way that even the shittiest weed doesn't.

infinite zest - 2016-01-04

Even better is that the same dealers can get jobs at weed dispensaries now the same way as brewers can get jobs at breweries, and not just use that as a little bit of extra income outside of their regular jobs. It's kind of a win-win.

Cena_mark - 2016-01-04

I'm disapointed. I thought you guys were making progress, but you go and post all this ignorance.

infinite zest - 2016-01-04

I'll admit that I'm a little bit biased: my girlfriend has fibromyalgia and weed's better for it than anything else, and she's tried everything else. Before, she had to go through her friends, which is fine, but now she can just go to the store just as easy as I can to buy a six pack of beer. She doesn't drive on it like I don't drive if I've been drinking. In fact I'm doing more damage to myself than she does as far as studies have gone, but I'll agree that more research into the dangers of marijuana use (specifically overusage) need to be conducted, just like alcohol and tobacco, and now that it's legal they can. That's a lot better than buying off the streets and accidentally smoking crack IMO.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-05

Does she... does she start peeing at 0:55?

infinite zest - 2016-01-05

Nope, as she describes it it's a super-mild case of Fibro. I didn't know that was one of the symptoms but so far no peeing in bed.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-05

No, no, not your girlfriend, I mean the girl in this video. 0:55-1:15, she is clearly peeing.

infinite zest - 2016-01-05

Hehe I thought you were talking in military time :) That running water sound continues after that as well, which is longer than a normal pee. And no flushing.. that's be gross. I did get super baked once and piss in my ex-girlfriend's bed because I was having a vivid dream about going to the bathroom, and that was sort of a relationship killer so that'd make for a good PSA, better than sloths anyway.

Gmork - 2016-01-05

OH MY GOD GMORK IT'S TOO LATE TO LEAVE THE HOUSE JUST KILL YOURSELF

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2016-01-04

Cant tell if trolling.. This is some childs homework project :/
If your not trolling I will post further, recently there has actually been flurry of real scientific studies on weed done in several countries as they have considered or enacted legalising or decriminalising it.
Its great because in previous decades there was 0 data.

Cena_mark - 2016-01-04

This is the best video I could find. The public is so brainwashed about pot being harmless, that it's tough to find someone telling the real deal about it.

TheSupafly - 2016-01-04

I encourage C0nc0rdance's videos on marijuana, he is objective and has good info on the negative scientific finds on it. https://youtu.be/yNxhuxV7FV4
Though I still smoke it, I am quick to mention the negative effects of it to those who think its benign.

infinite zest - 2016-01-04

I've said it before but weed's like alcohol: there's some people that turn into angry drunks and some who are your best friends. Some people are your best friends while high and others might concentrate on their hearts beat too much and make them take you to the emergency room at 4 in the morning. And sometimes those 4 people are all the same person.

betabox - 2016-01-04

If this is the best video you can find to prove your point, you don't have a point.

Oscar Wildcat - 2016-01-04

When I was in high school the Coach yelled at me "Boy, you smoke that funny weed, your gonna DE-STROY YOUR BRAIN. Now my advice to you, is to do something healthy with your life! Join the football team".

Fast forward to the day. Brain cells are (mostly) intact. Can't say as much for the football players. Turns out football causes ...wait for it... brain damage!

Life is sometimes wonderful like that. I see it as proof of, if not a benevolent God, than one that at least shares my sense of humor.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2016-01-04

Heres a nice concise summary of a review by Professor Wayne Hall from the National Addiction Centre at King’s College London summarises the scientific evidence gathered between 1993 and 2013 on the effects of cannabis use on mental and physical health.

http://www.kcl.ac.uk/ioppn/news/records/2014/October/20-years- of-cannabis-research-what-have-we-learned.aspx

The UK commissioned a study a while ago (cant find link atm) looking at the prospect of legalising it from a social perspective. They ended up deciding it was about as harmful as alcohol overall. Alcohol is more additive, and its use bears serious health problems and much greater likelihood of death (114 times greater) whereas weed is a lot worse for people with psychotic tendencies.

Anyway the big problem is prohibition itself. It raises the price, lowers the quality, misses out on enormous tax revenue and puts one of the worlds largest economies (the illegal recreational drug market is larger than the oil market) in the hands of criminals. Incentivising, funding and empowering criminal gangs. These are the people who will 'push' drugs, lace them with other drugs or harmful substances. Legal drugs are regulated.
There is already very interesting data coming in from the states in the US where it has been legalised, though there are also past examples of legal opium in England in the 19th century.
That book I recommended you read if you are really interested in this topic..

http://www.amazon.com/The-Pursuit-Oblivion-History-Narcotics/d p/0393325458

..deals with the history of drugs and prohibition, it was written 10 years ago, for much of the 20th century they have been illegal and no proper studies were carried out, so when it was written some of the best data available was from the 19th century.

infinite zest - 2016-01-04

The best anti-weed speech I ever got was from my high school drama teacher, who said that if you're going to smoke, use a bong, because that means it burns at about the same rate as cigarettes do, vs. a pipe which is much hotter on the old vocal chords. Since we were all ostensibly in Drama to pursue drama or music careers, I took that to heart, since there can only be so many Tom Waitses and Bob Dylans in the world and the rest of us are looking at Touring Broadway productions at best. Whether it worked or not on anyone is anyone's guess, but it was a more honest approach than any anti-drug PSA or sportsball coach speech I ever had to pretend to pay attention to.

infinite zest - 2016-01-04

Whoops meant as replyto Oscar Cat, but Purple Cat got that shit on lock!

Gmork - 2016-01-05

Smoking anything has carcinogens. Other than that, people with addictive tendencies will cling to any substance.

The entire margin that CM's idiotic ranting hinges on is data that mostly points to people who are already prone to abuse anything they become mentally addicted to, whether or not there's a physical component. And unless CM is fond of ignoring reality, even he must admit weed doesn't have one.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-05

What are you talking about? When did CM Punk rant about physical vs mental addictions?

Lef - 2016-01-04

Counter point:

Most people should try it once.
Weed and magic mushrooms, might help us all get over ourselves.

infinite zest - 2016-01-04

Or they should at least read Alex/Sasha Shulgin, who did the hard work for us

tesla_weapon - 2016-01-05

didnt watch the video. I have a history of mental illness in my family that I was not aware of, and I did lots of drugs and I don't regret it. I've been detained in a psych ward for psychotic episodes 14 times ( i think ) and its fairly probable that all the drugs I took played a part in my mental illness. it started 13 years ago, and i am still recovering.

which is actually all bullshit. i don't believe any of this nonsense for a second. "you're a wizard harry" and indeed lots of us are. drugs are the best way to open your mind, and I only wish I had stuck to the good ones instead of marijuana or amphetamines.

my whole life i had to listen to empirical know it alls telling me that magic wasn't real and neither were faeries. the day i started believing was the day my life really started. i haven't touched drugs for over 15 years and i have never been more certain of these things in my life.

infinite zest - 2016-01-05

Yeah me too. I suffer from anxiety and depression that's passed down from generations. Weed's not for me but that doesn't mean I didn't give it the old college try. I was on a nice mixture of adderall and weed and booze and I was very functional and got straight A's (for the most part) though; then they put me on Xanax so I quit the others, which literally fucked me up, like not remembering the past week fucked up even though I still functioned at work. I had to go back and read what I had done to do the books the next morning.. it was fucked up. Anyway Xanax is legal with a prescription, and maybe it works for some. But for many others weed or beer's just fine. :)

tesla_weapon - 2016-01-05

that's nice. i woke in in hospital one time, and wondered a) how i got there and b)what day it was seeing as how yesterday was the middle of august. turns out it was october, and no-one was able to tell me anything. i stayed there another 5 months before they let me out for all the good it did them. probably the scariest thing about waking up in hospital is the notion that it was perfectly normal for me to wake up in hospital, and only a little round bandaid was the clue that i had been recently injected with something.

Gmork - 2016-01-05

It was the amphetamines. If you fucked your life up because of weed that's your own stupid fault.

infinite zest - 2016-01-05

Yikes! It was a weird feeling for me, like I was functional but then just forgot what I did. The best way to describe it is a brown-or-blackout on booze: and that happens. You wake up in a stranger's bed and can't remember their name after a night at the bar. But it was like that all the fucking time!

I probably fucked up for what I did; I just stopped taking it completely and then I fell into a much worse depression. I just wanted to know where I was and didn't want to wind up halfway across town and not remember how I got there, which was a weekly occurrence, or wake up in a snowbank right outside my house, things like that.

tesla_weapon - 2016-01-06

i think with those side effects I would have gone straight back to the doctor who prescribed them for you. unfortunately most people are afraid to speak to doctors, or admit there is a problem, mostly due to the inherent stigma, not to mention the mysterious nature to it all. most people affected by mental illness truly are alone and trust no one, including myself and i was barely prepared for the horrors I endured. most people never escape either.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-05

>> This is the best video I could find. The public is so brainwashed about pot being harmless, that it's tough to find someone telling the real deal about it.

Cena, I am shocked and disappointed to be hearing this.

You do know who CM Punk is, right? You do know how to go on Youtube and search for one of Dr Punk's damning exposes about substance abuse? Here, let me help you:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAgUfDIFIQ4

THAT'S how you teach people the difference between right and wrong. Your heart's in the right place, but you gotta think, man.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-05

3:15, CM Punk DESTROYS pot.

You know how John Cena likes to be The Marine in films? You guys should get CM Punk to be The Coastie, he'd be perfect for that.

Cena_mark - 2016-01-05

CM Punk is a miserable quitter. He probably will someday quit being straight edge. Being straight edge is lame cause they don't drink.
I hope he ends up blowing all his money on Crystal Pepsi and comes crawling back to Vince.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-05

CM Punk refused to re-up his contract because he was sick of being pushed around. He's not a quitter, he's just not a scab like John Cena.

And anyways, alcohol is one of the WORST substances you can use, probably worse than pot, even. Don't tell me you're destroying your life, too! I'm disapointed. I thought you were making progress, but you go and post this ignorance...!

chumbucket - 2016-01-05

Yeah I'm not a big fan of the green. I even rejected it during my 6 months of chemo in 2013. I tried a few times never really thought it was something I could get into. Vermont has been big on trying to legalize it for a long time. I'm amazed it hasn't been in my lifetime.

bawbag - 2016-01-05

Obvious trolling. Made me laugh though, so have these stars.

That aside, I live in the Netherlands where I can walk down the street to a Rookcafé and simply buy various strains off the large menus (or spacecake or hash for that matter) while having a sitdown in a modern, fully-equipped dry-bar/restaurant with fantastic food: http://www.thegrasscompany.nl/ (these guys are the biggest players in town but there's much cooler small cafés too).

The only downside in this country is that due to regressive politicians in the last 20 or so years, there's a weird grey area in that people are not allowed to grow it on an industrial scale here, which leaves the cafes with the problem of where to source it, which in turn has led to the gangs once again having control over that supply, with grow-ops in suburbs routinely catching fire et al.

Other than that, I came to enjoy weed for the first time aged 25, when a stoner pal recommended it during a particularly painful saga with my 'post-cancer surgery life' with a violent, mentally-ill ex-wife.

As self-medicating goes, it was a whole lot less negative and self-destructive for me than the standard booze method so beloved of my fellow Scots and gave me the dissociation I needed to see that my life direction was entirely on a downward trajectory and needed to change. A couple of months afterwards, I got the strength to get my shit together and kick her out.

This wouldn't have come about without my intro to weed imho, as chemo/radio then surgery had really weakened me and her NPD and acting out after that were keeping me from seeing the forest for the trees.

I still like the introspection, the relaxation, the creativity, the dreamlike stuff that pours out of my subconscious and the absolutely religious-experience-level sex that it can and often does facilitate.

EvilHomer - 2016-01-05

I don't think we'll have to worry about that, if and when pot gets re-legalized on a federal level here. After legalization, marijuana will be "properly regulated", which is an American euphemism for the state using bureaucratic oversight to squash smallscale growers, while at the same time promoting the interests of a select few monopolies. Our country will quickly get behind three or four too-big-to-fail Big Pot conglomerates, and from then on weed'll be just like any other product on the market.
