Before the bridge was built there was a ton of congestion in the country roads, especially during holidays and summer months. Apparently the people who lived in those villages opted for the eyesore than have clogging up their roads every summer.

I read the story behind it. My sentiment remains the same. Why the fuck did that many people have to go that way by personal car?

Because it gets expensive to commute by plane daily.

As much as I hate heights and would never go near this, I still wholeheartedly encourage humans to Build Bigger Things.

Sometimes being able to do something is all the justification you need.

I find it beautiful.

There are several places in SoCal where the highway goes winding in the valleys between hills and sometimes there's a modern overpass built just in the right spot and it looks great.

I also find wind farms beautiful, despite the protests of many an angry rich snob.
