My father got into this show. I tried watching but it just seemed like an Asylum deal where it was 98% people assertively raising their voices at each other in dark rooms lit by monitors.

Plus it seemed like every single conversation was a pissing contest between 2 characters. Hell, it seems like EVERY fiction show is like that these days. Reality TV to blame?

Hope episode 2 holds up.

Seen every episode to date. Lots of build up, conspiracy, cold war etc. not much pay off yet.

Really worried the longer they hold off the big reveal, the dumber it's going to be.

So years later I watched one and a half seasons.

It's a promising setting. What keeps killing it for me though is the godawful main actor. His entire crew is more technically competent and better leaders than he is, but he gets to be in charge because he was XO of a shitty freighter in a previous life? Because he's the token white jock? He gives me bad Josh Hartnett flashabcks.

The stuff with the aliens and comically evil Umbrella corporation start getting silly. The show is at its best when it's just about tensions between the governments.

I stopped watching partway into season 2 when it started becoming a wacky buddy cop routine between the Martian marine and the ambassador's bodyguard.
