I just need to see it again, period. I think the last time was around when it came out. All I really remember was one particular scene, but it's probably either on here or it would spoil it for those poesters who haven't seen it yet. But it's one of the funniest scenes in the world.

It was as if, for one shining moment, Tim Burton remembered he could make things that don't suck.

One shining moment.... 22 years ago dude. Unless you like Mars Attacks, which is 20 years old I might add, then this is the last good thing Burton made.

The real Bunny Breckinridge was a self-supported millionaire. Unlike the rest of Wood's Ghouls, he knew EXACTLY what he was doing, completely adored the level of camp he was involved in producing, and loved every minute of it.

It flopped at the box office, I know, but I thought it was good.

Shit, Mars Attacks is really 20 years old? I remember seeing it in the theatre like it was yesterday. But I guess I turned 13 that year; I was one of those kids who actually followed the MPAA rules that nobody cared about for PG13 movies, so I saw a whole bunch of movies that year all by myself!

Looking back, Mars Attacks was a bit too goofy for the genre it was supposed to be paying homage to, but it was fun. As far as Burton goes, I also really liked Sleepy Hollow and Sweeny Todd, because they were very fun unexpectedly gory gore fests for a director who had sort of settled comfortably into PG13 movies that sell toys, but I don't think I've seen anything else from him.

Big Fish has my favorite ending of all time and I cry hysterically every time I watch it. It should have been nominated for Best Picture.

Oh yeah, I guess I have seen parts of Big Fish. For some reason I always thought that was Terry Gilliam though. It just has more of that vibe than a Burton one.. yeah.. I didn't even see the whole thing and the ending made me cry.

A couple of weeks ago I was over at my folks' house and my brother was watching a documentary called Death of Superman Lives, which was that Tim Burton Superman movie that never got made starring Nic Cage. I know a lot of people on here drink the Kevin Smith Haterade (myself included to an extent) but it's a fantastic documentary, AND you get to see what the interior of Burton's house looks like!

I liked "Big Fish", too. I was only citing "Big Eyes" as the most recent Burton film that didn't suck. (2014)

"Big Fish" kind of struck me as Burton's attempt to ape the Coens' style, but I still enjoyed it.

Big eyes looks interesting! But according to wikipedia anyway it wasn't much of a flop, since it made nearly 30 million and was only made for 10, but I hadn't heard about it at all until now..

But I wonder if that's just a symptom of the cynical view of Hollywood that's kind of been newly instilled in our culture. Like some years ago, there was another Oscar year with no black actors nominated, after Denzel Washington and Halle Berry won theirs' respectively, and it just kind of blew over in a day or two; the ceremony went on as usual. Now there's Oscar boycotts, hashtags, everything so the logical conclusion? Fuck Hollywood and don't support their movies. Watch originals on Netflix or Amazon instead (like Beasts of no Nation, one of the best movies I've ever seen).

It's kind of a double-whammy: back when home video (and Home Box Office) were released, I'm sure major studios felt intimidated as much as the theatres themselves did, but it didn't affect them much, if at all, since the studios were still putting the movies out and there was a longer waiting period before VHS/Beta release. But now, most folks have bigger TVs with crisper quality, and a month's worth of Netflix costs less than a single ticket to the movies. So that, combined with the boycott, could eventually spell the end of going to the movies!

I liked Big Eyes because it didn't star the usual Burton actors. It's a good movie in it's own right, but holy crap was it refreshing to see actors he's never worked with before.

That's awesome! I looked it up and was like "wait a sec I think I know him too" but then realized that I just recognize the name from pretty much everything I watched in the last 20 or so years. :)

Incidentally, I wonder if he knows Adam, who was a writer on Spaceballs The Animated Series among others.. anyway he's awesome too :)
