From all accounts rust is essentially griefing - the game. Sounds hellish.

SolRo - 2016-01-31

that's every online survival game.

scratch that. that's every persistent online game with open pvp.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2016-01-31

I love computer games (and make them as my job) But ive never gotten multiplayer games. Always seems to be chaos.

SolRo - 2016-01-31

it varies massively by type and genre.

Chancho - 2016-01-31

It's a boring and badly designed game.

Kabbage - 2016-01-31

It is definitely the most stressful game I've ever played.

theSnake - 2016-01-31

If you don't understand the thrill of raping noobs then I don't know what to say to you

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2016-01-31

Are you in the indie scene, MPCE?

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-01-31

If you are, you should lie and say no.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2016-02-01

I actually work for a company making data gathering / analytics software for pro sports teams, but they have a product built in Unity that uses the kinect that I work on.

(I am working on a little game in my spare time howver and my dream is to be an indie dev, pretty much all the games I've enjoyed recently have been obscure indie games (I play a lot of them and tend to avoid AAA except out of curiosity))

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2016-02-01

Also the modern indie scene reminds me of pc gaming in the 80's / 90's where what seemed like a majority of games were original and different and made by mad people in their basements.

Gmork - 2016-02-01

5 for the shittiness of how bad the game Rust is.

Honestly, games have been going downhill for a while, but the trend of having games where the most joy you can get out of it is from greifing or playing disruptively is a millennial thing.

So is jamming RPG aspects into games that don't need it.

Gmork - 2016-02-01

Hey purple cat - I'm an asset-implementer, level designer and particle FX guy. If you need some sweet particle FX, let me know. I can make it AAA or purposely cap framerate and resolution if you're going for a pixelated look. Also I like seeing what other indie devs get up to.

4723yu@gmail.com is my decoy email but I still check it, contact me if you're so inclined.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2016-02-01

Yeah cool gmork!

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2016-01-31

Also I dont know enough about rust to know the answer, but cant those guys just go back and reclaim their base once he leaves?

Kabbage - 2016-01-31

Yeah, pretty certain they can.

Raggamuffin - 2016-01-31

I know that the beds function as spawn points, so it's not so much that they can't take the base back, just that it'll be a big pain in the ass since they'll spawn randomly in the world and have to make their way back.

My stars are for the spear through the gate's view hole.

theSnake - 2016-01-31

i think when he blew up their beds with a c4 charge it made it harder to reclaim, because videogames

Binro the Heretic - 2016-01-31

Reminds me of a pain-in-the ass friend I used to game with. We're still friends, I just don't game with him anymore because he can pull off shit like this.

He always has a high-end computer and essentially just does first-person shooters ALL THE FUCKING TIME. He would often grand-stand, doing shit like taking everyone out in "Action Half-Life" using just a knife.

I haven't asked, but I'm sure he must play "Rust" and pisses everyone off.

infinite zest - 2016-01-31

Heh without even watching the video I had a friend like that too in high school; we'd play Warcraft 2 over our 28.8s and somehow while I was still trying to build my keep into a castle he just came in with all of his Paladins and destroy me!! Still a nice guy to hang out with though.

But what's funny is 20 years later, a different friend and I like to play WC2 since it's free (the online version anyway) and I remember all the tactics I used to attempt not to get killed. I actually have to hold back on the guy.

That guy - 2016-01-31

This is why I don't play these- because I am just born to be one of the noob speed-bumps in a video like this.

American Standard - 2016-02-01

I don't play Rust because I don't want to run into this dude after 200 hours of building my perfect base, lose everything in fifteen minutes, and have a fucking aneurysm.

chumbucket - 2016-02-01

DayZ without all of the militaristic mumbo jumbo and the useless zombies.
