How did they decide to tag this Darkwave? Does darkwave mean something profoundly different than it did a decade ago? Because last I heard, "darkwave" was a sort of middle road between EBM and classic style synthpop, with a bit of New Romantics melodrama mixed in.

This is closer to mid 2000s "freak folk" (there are never too many air quotes for ""freak folk"") than to any darkwave I've ever heard.
