As stupid as this show is, the music always gets me hyped.

"Then I won't protect you, not even from me."
Whut?

Caminante Nocturno - 2016-05-17 I think he just got lazy with his threats because he assumed his voice would take care of everything.

Binro the Heretic - 2016-05-17 "Sorry, but are you supposed to sound scary."
"Come on! I sound like a dalek. Be afraid of me.
"You don't sound that much like a dalek. You sound like Snidely Whiplash inside a garbage can."
"What if I talk in a deeper monotone like this?"
"Hm...meh."
"What-if-I-add-a-halting-speech-pattern?"
"Uh...better. Try a touch more distorted and louder."
"YOU-MEAN-LIKE-THIS?"
"Perfect!"
"VERY- WELL! YOU-WILL-CRAFT-A-NEW-ROBOT-BODY-FOR-"
(knock-knock-knock)
"EXCUSE-ME-FOR-ONE-MOMENT. YES? CAN-I-HELP-YOU?"
"Mr. Mindok?"
"YES."
"I'm a solicitor representing the BBC. They are suing you for infringement of copyright."
"WHAT? I mean what? It was a satire. It's protected free speech! Guys, tell him it was satire! Guys? Where did they go?"
"Out the back while you weren't looking, you fishbowl-faced twat."
"Wha-WAIT! you're not a solicitor. You're that cat-gorilla thing."
"Ha-ha! Fuck you!"
(footsteps rapidly fading into the distance)
"I knew I should have used more fire whales."

I really love the art for this and Herculoids. Apparently Toth only worked on the principal characters for Thundarr and Kirby did the rest, could've fooled me.
|
Old_Zircon - 2016-05-17 Thundarr is great because it was actually trying to tell a story, it wasn't just a 30 minute commercial (there weren't even Thundarr toys until some stuff was released for collectors in the mid 2000s if I remember right).

Stars for Ookla headbutting a whale and (mostly) winning.

poorwill - 2016-05-17 According to wiki he was named after UCLA.

I love the random mercury capsule that gets cut in half.

OZ, totally off the topic, but I've been looking for this video I'm pretty sure you posted some time ago. It's a band performing on public access, the singer is a black fella and I think he's singing about "the tigers stripes" or something like that. The rest of the band kind of looks like 80's moms.
|
Old_Zircon - 2016-05-17 Oh shit, I remember that but I forget what his name is!
|
Old_Zircon - 2016-05-17 It wasn't this, was it?

I guess he was some kind of hipster fad for a few months 5 years ago because some chillwave band sampled him. The whole record's pretty great, and he or someone who had access to them was selling the old stock of them off for about each for a while during that window.
|
Old_Zircon - 2016-05-17 Ooooh shit, he's looking for audition videos to play a show with him in NYC this summer. Might have to do that.
|
Scrimmjob - 2016-05-17 haha, yes, thank you. I've been looking all over for this. You should definitely play a show with this guy.
|
Scrimmjob - 2016-05-17 haha, his video is now hosted on Luaka Bop's channel, I'm guessing they are reprinting his albums.
|
Old_Zircon - 2016-05-17 Yeah, I'm definitely going to make some kind of audition video. He wants a video of you playing along with one of his songs (no experience necessary), maybe I'll greenscreen myself in to the video I linked.

A show that teaches kids the value of marijuana and the artwork airbrushed on the sides of vans.
