What's that have to do with this? This doesn't parody that kind of anime, rather it is a parody of Yu-Gi-Oh and other animes created to sell card games. See, it took the card game Uno and made an anime style comic around it, and even has those lame parts where some guy in the background explains the function of a card as those anime based card games have rather lengthy and varied rules.

Cena_mark, yah I get it. I flamed this, probably shouldn't have. Anime, and in particular what I see as the normalization of the sexualization of minors, has been on my mind recently. I'm having trouble squaring away anime as an inert entertainment medium, when it seems like almost every iteration has an element of child sexualization involved. Part of me wants to just call it out at every opportunity, maybe it was misdirected here.

Incidentally, speaking of anime and Steven Universe, I recently finished the last season of MLP, and I noticed that Fluttershy is a weeaboo. There's a scene in the Halloween episode where she draws pony versions of characters from Ranma 1/2, Sailor Moon, Evangelion, Utena, and DBZ - all shows which Steven Universe shamelessly rips off. Fluttershy loves anime. Rebecca-Chan Sonichu loves anime. I think the person here who's in denial is YOU, Cena_Mark!

You really should try watching DBZ and Ranma 1/2, if nothing else. DBZ is super-manly and promotes good physical fitness, while Ranma 1/2 is arguably the best kung fu transgender teen sex anime ever made.

I did watch DBZ back in the day, but quit somewhere in the Freeza Saga. I couldn't take the slow slow pacing any longer. I don't need an anime to be macho for me to like it. My favorite Ghibli film is Whisper of the Heart.
I'd say my favorite anime is Legend of Korra. IT IS AN ANIME. Anime is about style not country of origin.

What about The Boondocks? If you're counting Amerime, then surely you'd resonate with The Boondocks.

Chiming in here again. I have enjoyed anime in the past. I've enjoyed DBZ and I find the studio ghibli stuff uniquely interesting and inspiring. It's not that an entire genre of media is at fault for something, that'd be an absurd accusation just on its face.

I lived in Japan for a year teaching English, and I got to know my neighbours during that time. They were a young couple with a toddler, and we would often get together for dinners and board games. This is where I got my first education of otaku, but in the Japanese sense: adult males with an unhealthy interest in cartoon characters, in particular infantilized female characters.

Anime is extremely diverse and need not be characterized by its worst elements. But I challenge anyone who claims that there isn't a segment of the genre dedicated to the sexualization of children.

I don't think you guys have watched the latest season or 2 of boondocks. It's gone downhill - has absolutely none of the style or philosophical substance it used to. I didn't even like it that much to begin with, but I had respect for it up until season 3 or 4.
