Did you also buy figurines? If so, I have always wondered.. why??
They're really expensive, they serve no function, they just gather dust and take up valuable table/shelf space ,moving house is probably a pain with all that stuff, they serve as a warning sign to anyone you bring over to your house.

People into this sort of stuff seem to blow all their disposable income on this stuff, you could be saving for a house, or to start your own business, or retire early or whatever!

Also it boggles my mind that people would wantonly increase the amount of pointless shit they own. I regularly audit and sell/give away my possessions in order to stop them accumulating and cluttering up my life/house.

Btw this is not just a critique of figurine collectors, I could say the same about girls with like 50 pairs of shoes and loads of jewelery and whatnot, or William Randolph Hearst and his castle full of art.. I dont get it.

I meant the hair and the beard, and the glasses, and the dork shirts, and even the voice! I'll admit, I bought a few figurines back in the day, but nowhere near the amount Mr Bardic has his hands on - most of my clutter consisted of art supplies, computer equipment, vintage games, and piles of old books the library had thrown out.

As for being a warning sign to anyone you brought over your house - well yes, but that assumes you intended to bring someone over your house in the first place. And why would you want to go through all that trouble, when you've got more than enough HeroQuest boxes and custom Jubilee figurines in your house to keep you entertained for months?

Oh ok. I should just copy/paste my question (perhaps reworded to be a littel more sensitive as he is a current practising figurine collector) into this guys youtube channel! I'm really curious!

I was going to say I don't get it, because figurines require painting and that is an art not to be scoffed at, but then I saw this figurine came pre-painted, which is lame.

I've often wished I could paint figurines well, but it's one of those things you have to do shit terrible for years first, and that is an expensive form of practice. I once saw a Superman figure in a contest that was painted like it was cel shaded, and every angle you looked at it from made it look two dimensional, it was awesome.

I don't get how collecting figurines is a waste of time and collection of shit on a planet where batshit insane homicidal maniacs hoard resources and cause death as a result.

Seems like a Dick Cheney quail hunt to me.
