I don't know about that. He's shown no desire to engage with the party and he only attends fundraisers where he can have a rally immediately afterwards, because he prefers the adulation of the crowd to having to condescend to asking for money with his social superiors. He's averse to even TALKING to other wealthy people. He reportedly was given a list of ten potential donors to call and he only called one, and lied about how much they were going to give him.

I really, really am now 100% certain that he's a saboteur. Nobody could conceivably be running a campaign this poorly unless it's deliberate. Every gaffe, every pause in procedure, every failure to rectify easily made errors, seems to be deliberate. There are even rumors afloat that he's willing to take a buy out amount from the party to just leave the race entirely. Even the fact that he fired his campaign manager hit on a Monday, instead of a Friday, is so cartoonishly inept that it can't be honest ineptitude. He's either trying to hold the party hostage for an out or he's working for Clinton.

This really is a no-win situation.

@Cog: Trump has always been an outsider to the old money crowd. That he is chaffing at the bit is to be expected. It's also the case that he can fund his own campaign pretty well, if need be, and the RNC needs him more than he needs the RNC. If throwing money at people wins races we'd have president Romney in perpetuity. But we don't, so there is room for some contrarian action, no? Besides, his whole brand is to be against the party establishment, so he's sort of stuck in that mode now.

The Clintons should make Donald an offer to by him out and thereby achieve the presidency by hostile takeover.

Trump is an amazing development for the democrats.

You couldn't really ask for more following the Obama presidency.

Typically following a divisive president like Obama ( even though he is politically centrist he still brown yo ) you'd see a swing in the other direction.

Trump is assuring that won't happen. If Trump had not have run a character like Paul Ryan could have won and kept the Bush / Palin / Ailes rhetoric in motion to mobilize all the old racist white people.

Now that rhetoric is losing its political value.

I could totally see Bill Clinton planting this idea into Trump's head as they are banging a call girl St. Barthes circa 2013 as a half joke.

Once upon a time some scientists sat down and said "you know, we have the math to easily determine how big of a rocket it would take to send people to the moon!" Then, they did the math and said "holy shit, that's an unexpectedly huge damned rocket, can such a thing even exist!?"

Hahaha people have been desperately trying to get Trump to tow the line for a year now, and every time, they say a "pivot" that never comes is just around the corner. Someone says "NOW he'll start acting Presidential/run something vaguely reaembling a campaign", and then the next day he's yelling about how ephebophilia isn't as bad as pedophilia.

Donald Trump is pathologically narcissistic. He's incapable of admitting anything he does is not tremendous or beautiful. The RNC is frantically trying to reign him in to no avail because Trump only knows Trump, and all Trump knows is that Trump is a winner with baseball mitt-sized hands.
