eh, this looks better than your average modern fps cos of the setting. i also appreciate that they don't skimp on the hordes.

chumbucket - 2016-10-05

Looks pretty good to me.

Sanest Man Alive - 2016-10-05

Clone Jesus-Hitlers have to fumigate the ship for space roaches AGAIN because somebody didn't vacuum regularly and set traps behind the toilet or under the kitchen sink AGAIN

Wake me up when they've got the quantum probability of balls necessary to do a 40k title that isn't just stupid boring SPESS MUHREENS for the hundredth time. No really, gimme an Ork game where you whack things to get bigger E.V.O. style and cobble together a gun-laden monster truck fueled entirely by FUCK YEAH KILL DEM 'UMIES. Or a Tau game that's basically Wonderful 101 with more mecha and more obvious mind control. Or just play as an Imperial Guardsmen and make a straight-up survival horror game.

So much crazy shit to fool around with in that setting, but it's always the same three or four scenarios repeated ad boredum and never without their darling Übermenschen front and center.

Oh well. To be fair, Vermintide was pretty fun.

Vermintide got old fast. Not holding out hopes for this one. Just another l4d clone with a warhammer theme.

Sanest Man Alive - 2016-10-06

Heck, so was Vermintide. I had the most fun in that taking the Empire Soldier and just bowling over whole Skaven swarms with his warhammer (hurr hurr). Whether playing with friends or public matches, ragdolling a dozen ratmen at once kept me entertained longer than anything else. Plus, hunting the optional bonus items encouraged you to go poke into every nook and cranny when you're not being swarmed, and I make a terrible habit of that in any game.

My biggest complaint was its Payday 2-style random reward drawings at the end of every mission. It's not so bad starting out because you might get neat stuff for a character you wouldn't have played otherwise, but when you're aiming for better gear for one in particular and keep getting starter-level crap for another, it's a bit annoying, moreso on higher difficulties. Also annoying: tucking most new content behind a DLC paywall, again, like Payday 2.

That all said, I do like a lot of the features these newer co-op FPSes have over Left 4 Dead, especially enemy/item highlighting.

GW is apparently licensing anything right about now, so you never know.

Personally, I quite like the idea of an X-Com style game where you play as a Genestealer cult trying to take over a planet. And having shit get crazy when the Space Marines finally turn up. Having to organize and co-ordinate endless waves of troops to try and bring down a handful of god-soldiers is something you don't see often enough: "you lost 2368 hybrids of various generations to kill 3 Space Marines. Mission rank A+"
