The Mothership - 2016-12-05
This ad is on high rotation on my local Night Court, Barney Miller and Roseanne rerun station.

Waugh - 2016-12-05 whoa your local station plays reruns of night court? where is this utopia?
|
The Mothership - 2016-12-06 Oh my god Waugh, I KNOW! I truly live in some sort of perfect world.

Bort - 2016-12-06 Give it this much, the proliferation of digital stations leads to roughly as much filler TV as basic cable without much loss of quality. There's still equally "nothing" on, but for free.
I have very much developed a taste for "Have Gun - Will Travel" reruns, though. That's over on Heroes and Icons six days a week, and a couple episodes on MeTV on Saturdays.
"Petticoat Junction" is still as dull as I remember as a child. The only joy to be had with it is singing the theme song as "Tittywank Junction".
|
Boomer The Dog - 2016-12-07 At least on Petticoat, you get to see 'Dog' or Oscar, played by the up and coming Benji!
If my mom was still alive, she would be thinking that this digital TV state of affairs was true utopia. She'd like half of what they run at least, Colombo, heck yeah!

Every morning, I see my friend who has a disability. It's hard for him just to stand, his leg with stiff muscle reaching down to the floor. Now, thinking of him, I can't watch this stuff and find it interesting. Whoever laughs at this commercial has no idea what pain is whatsoever.
I am utterly disgusted.
If you want to laugh at this, you go ahead and do it. I would never wish to incorporate this humor into my work at all. I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself.

bac - 2016-12-05 *slow clap.

Albuquerque Halsey - 2016-12-05 i think we're laughing at the clutch cargo animation and the fact that these kind of commercials can make even legitimate products look like a scam.
|
Cena_mark - 2016-12-05 I don't like what you wrote there, Homer. I disagree with you.

I rest my case.

Boomer The Dog - 2016-12-07 Homer, if you'd like to laugh, see if you can find horror movie host Svengoolie's parody ad for this, I think you'll like that one.

I see this ad all the time at the bar, but the TV's are always muted so I hadn't actually heard the audio before. Now that I have I can confidently state that this is without question the shoddiest advertisement to have ever existed.

advertising awfulness

Holy crap. They play this commercial on our local NBC affiliate during the news but I swear to God the "animated" characters are black. The audio is identical though.
|
|
Bort - 2016-12-06 No, there totally is a black version of this. I think it's the same voices so they don't have to pay new voice actors, and as for the animation, well, they're not exactly paying top dollar anyway.
|
The Mothership - 2016-12-07 Bort is correct, there is totally a different blackfolks and a whitefolks version of this horrible ad.
