Looks truer to the games than the American films.
Storywise, yes! However, the first American film was well-received by the Midway team, and we shouldn't forget that it both helped influence future canon (such as the decision to make Kano an Australian) and provided the MK Universe with some of its most iconic music.

That said, I am going to watch the fuck out of this Gollywood version. The fights look awesome, and it seems like the plot is centered around Best Kombatant!

I was referring to Princess Kitana, obviously.

Note how Kitana sounds like katana, which is the world's greatest sword.

Yeah, it's a real pain in the ass. I can't tell you how many times I've used her name to search for fanfiction to read, only to discover that the dumbass authors have not included "Kitana" the ninja, but rather, it's a generic samurai story, and they misspelled the name of those lame swords.

It gets even worse when you find a story that DOES include Princess Kitana, only the assholes misspell her name, or read it aloud as "Katana".
