Another WoW clone bites the dust! What were they thinking using such terrible graphics!

Well this was '99, so really WoW was more of a clone of Asheron's Call than the other way around. I had this for a few months when it was free; for one of the first MMORPGs it actually performed better and had better gameplay than most MMORPGs you see today (I'm looking at you TES Tamriel.)

Meanwhile, Neocron, one of my favorite MMO game-em-ups from my youth got a massive update less then a week ago. I might actually give it a shot again, though I am saddened that I still can not place any turrets on the genrep. :(

Neocron is still running? Holy shit....

That guy
don't get me started about not being able to place turrets on stuff, homie

Never heard of that one but after watching a video of it all I have to say is OMG that fucking head bob when your character moves.

I love how the Kickstarter to make the servers private has raised $80 out of $2,000,000 so far...

Considering the huge fan server communities for a ton of games out there that are done on pretty threadbare budgets, what the fuck did they need 2 million for??

Probably need the extra dough to cover the lawyers and licensing. That, and to pay for their airfare to the Bahamas.

I'm watching the Nostalrius Vanilla WoW server battle pretty closely, as soon as one gets set up on a server outside of copyright treaty jurisdiction it might be over at long last. Blizzard had a change to open their "pristine servers" with Legion and forestalled, a thing they could've justified making money on. Now they lost goodwill by revoking that promise to the Nostalrius people and they're leaking server tools. Could happen any day.
