So on some technical this is a "leftist" journalist, which is all fine and dandy for internet manbabies to be all happy about, except the vast majority of the actual anti-Semitism and general bigotry facing our country today verifiably comes from the right, so not sure what this really proves.
When the right constantly tries to paint crazies (like the guy who literally just shot some Sikhs) as rogue elements when they clearly are inspired by and sometimes actually CITE the kind of hard-right, fascist bullshit the alt-Reich openly cheers, it's easy to factually connect the dots between the escalation of bigotry and xenophobia right to their doorstep. When someone way left of center does it, they really *are* the outliers and extremely rare animals.
So, yeah....again...factual reality, as usual, has a liberal bias.

He's not the sole source of the threats against jews recently. The authorities have confirmed that.

He's a copycat that wanted to get his ex blamed for them.

Caminante Nocturno - 2017-03-07

I've also heard that this guy wasn't a true Scotsman.

Pillager - 2017-03-07

Please Don't change the subject.

Stanley is right, in my experience at least the people on the left who are capable of doing stuff like this (and they're out there) are the same ones who smoke way too much weed to actually follow through.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-03-07

There was a story on NPR the other day about a fellow doing stats for bias crimes. He claimed the majority of them in the last three months have been antisemitic. I suspect there is a reporting bias here ( Jews will report these things, Arabs and Mexicans will hide to avoid deportation/prison ) but nonetheless it makes me wonder if Hitler would have had broad Jewish support for his policies if only he had chosen Israel rather than Madagascar as a place to deport the Jews.

Implying a black person is on the right for any reason whatsoever is SUPER racist.

You dry clean your Klan robes or machine wash only?

Goddamned Nazis.

Void 71 - 2017-03-07

Remember when jews had to paint swastikas on their own buildings and call in bomb threats to themselves? Now they can start outsourcing the work to gentile SJWs.

Lord_Crocodilicus - 2017-03-07

Juan Thompson is just some deranged shabbos goy.

Nikon - 2017-03-07

For void.

SolRo - 2017-03-07

Way to get our resident racists to agree with you Pillager! Bernie would be so proud!

Pillager - 2017-03-07

Sticks and stones, SolRo.

Your insults mean nothing to me or anyone else.

SolRo - 2017-03-07

I don't get why you still haven't migrated over to bonews, they'd be more than happy to welcome you to their circle jerk of self-loathing leftism.

Spaceman Africa - 2017-03-07

"the jews did it themselves" is not a very hot take

Lord_Crocodilicus - 2017-03-08

In 2017 it is.

"Sargon's law comes to mind..."

If you knew what Sargon's law was without looking it up, that's a red flag.

Old_Zircon - 2017-03-07

This.

SolRo - 2017-03-07

First entry when you google it is an urban dictionary definition in the form of a (terrible) straw man example penned by a furiously masturbating MRA.

SolRo - 2017-03-07

also it sounds like something a reddit fucktard made up because it sounds better than "I know you are, but what am I?!?!"

Bort - 2017-03-07

To be sure there is a phenomenon of people projecting their failings on others -- "no puppet, no puppet, you're the puppet" is a pretty recent topical example -- the biggest problem here is when Sargon comes to mind at all, to say nothing of Sargon being regarded as an authority.

As for Juan Thompson, he's the sort of tool who's too dishonest even for Glenn Greenwald's tastes; beyond a certain level of imperviousness to reality, all you can say is that the other person is nuts. And even Greenwald passed that point long ago. Greenwald is so sensitive to Democratic malfeasance that he assumes Putin is a kind and gentle soul who wouldn't hurt a fly:

http://thedailybanter.com/2017/01/officially-discount-greenwal d-on-russian-hacks/

So does that place Greenwald on the far Left (feels Democrats are too power-hungry) or on the far Right (has nothing but kind words for Putin)? He's too unprincipled, too dishonest, and too inconsistent to be evaluated, other than he's crap. So is Thompson.

memedumpster - 2017-03-07

I had to look up Sargon's Law.

"Whenever an ideologue makes a character judgement about someone they are debating with, that character judgement is usually true about themselves."

If I just wanted proof of this being true, poeTV would remove all doubt, which is the kind of thing I think Sargon is banking on enforcing his opinion, but proof is less than half of intellectual honesty. It's easy to point out that lots of ideologues are actually good at debate and don't hurl personal insults at their enemies every time they speak, thus making them effective ideologues and outside the mechanics of this law.

I find it's a dubiously useful law that thrives on confirmation bias and sets people up to be used by those a bit smarter than those the law confirms. Like selling someone a cure for the cold and saying it cures being taken in by snake oil salesmen too. Perhaps Sargon is so used to the Internet political keyboard warriors that he doesn't realize the actual shitbags who run the planet don't bark like their subsentient lapdogs, and that the lapdogs are just there to alert the master. Or perhaps he is one dude with limited time and decided to try and reach the people who actually fall for the obvious, as Bort said, the kind of people who regard Sargon (or any shouty animal that eschews empiricism for being a crying weepy hateful moralizing bitch) as some kind of authority.

But seriously, confirmation bias alone proves this law every day in a billion ways all over the Internet, which shows the weakness of having knowledge based on only what you look for.

The real evil motherfuckers can hide.

Maggot Brain - 2017-03-07

Sargon's Law is just called "projection" by normal people.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-03-07

...and let us not forget it's twin brother, Denial. Tragedy and Comedy, walking hand in hand, for your amusement.
