I have terrible case of resting bitch face. It's threatened relationships... If I let my face go completely slack and look in the mirror, I can kind of understand why.

Well, smartphones still saying "dialing" when you make a call.

My software engineer friend was having UI ennui the other day designing this program.. he realized everything we use as a pictogram is horribly obsolete and out of date.

For instance, "photo" buttons are always 1930's cameras, "video" buttons are reel-to-reel, "save" is a floppy disk. "call" or "contact" is a rotary-style phone. Countless more examples out there too.

So pretty much anyone born after 9/11 isn't going to know what the fuck any of those pictures are supposed to be, although chances are they'll still recognize what the button is for because everything else they've grown up with uses these mysterious symbols too.

English is slowly evolving into an ideogrammic language.

The first alphabets were styled from pictograms that had gradually lost their representative meanings. This UI guy should be excited to be witnessing the beginnings of something similar, not wallowing in ennui, and he should stretch more often too. Maybe get into light yoga.
