Oscar Wildcat - 2017-05-09 When I first saw it, the only thing that I remembered was Arthur's dad dressed in full armor putting it to Arthur's mom. I sort of imagined there was a manhole cover down there, something you'd pry off with a small crowbar or screwdriver. The mechanics of the whole thing baffled me.
Years later, I watched the movie again and was struck by how it attempted to present things in a quasi-realistic fashion, something quite novel for a fantasy film of that period. It made an otherwise boring genre film fun and occasionally thought provoking.

This, Highlander, Dragonslayer, Legend and the original cut of Blade Runner fall under my all time favorite beautiful messes of movies.
Excalibur is gorgeous to look at but there are some weird tonal issues and casting choices. Not bad, just weird.
