I actually have enjoyed the JJverse movies, so I am cautiously optimistic.

My idea for a Prime universe series:
Takes place 30 years after the Dominion wars. Follows a group of young cadets through Starfleet academy. Halfway through the first season, the Dominion joins the Federation. Suddenly, the academy is flooded with purpose-cloned Jem Hadar, Vorta and changelings. The show is about how Starfleet, its officers and its politicians deal with a massive influx of former Dominion species within their ranks. Can these new officers be trusted? What will Starfleet look like when half or more of its officers are Jem Hadar bred specifically to be Starfleet officers? Maybe Federation traditionalists will start a new Maquis movement? With Section 31's blessing? Perhaps Humans will begin dabbling in Eugenics again? I would love another show that gets deep into Federation politics like DS9 did. I would also love to finally see the Starfleet indoctrination process from the perspective of new recruits.
My guess is that the Discovery will be about space terrorists and their superweapons.

StanleyPain - 2017-05-18 Beyond was actually not bad. It was not truly "Star Trek" by any means, but it was nice that it was a sci-fi movie set pretty much on its own without using the original show as a crutch (like ST: Into Reference) Surprisingly well written and made. And, of course, we'll probably never see another one since it only made a kajillion dollars instead of a bizjillion.
