William Burns - 2017-05-18

Seppuku or auto-erotic seppuku? 5-stars either way!

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-05-18

Silver bullet or wooden stake?

Bort - 2017-05-18

Heart condition or hemophilia?

Dude had both, and still he used Fox News to convince people to oppose Obamacare. If anyone could have understood how important it is for people to have access to health care, it's Roger Ailes; and still he worked to deny it to people. That's how fucking evil he was.

Bort - 2017-05-18

Even Roger Ailes's blood wanted him to die.

As the Lumineers might sing: Hemophilia, Roger Ailes had defective blood.

OxygenThief - 2017-05-18

Goddammit, Bort, that stupid Lumineers joke made me spit out my coffee. Well played.

infinite zest - 2017-05-18

Ha! That song may have saved my life. I was listening to Pandora on my bike and that song came on so I slowed down to skip it which kept me out of the path of a vehicle whose driver had suffered a heart attack or something and speed into the bike lane/sidewalk where my bike and adjacent guts would've been. I'll take this as a means of officially thanking that song, may I never have to hear it again.

Bort - 2017-05-18

Uh oh, Infi-zest! Stop or else a car will hit you. Thud!

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-18

How would other people having health care help Roger Ailes?

If it didn't help Roger Ailes, why would Roger Ailes give a single, solitary shit?

He could afford health care regardless so fuck the rest of us.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-05-18

Murdered by Bill and Hillary Clinton, who sent the reanimated corpse of Vince Foster to strangle him in his sleep. I assume.

Bort - 2017-05-18

Other people having health care would mean less for Roger Ailes.

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-18

JHM I'm pretty sure that's more or less what Alex Jones has been saying, yes.

Bort - 2017-05-18

I will not pretend to be too virtuous to delight in the death of an enemy of almost all of mankind.

Meerkat - 2017-05-18

If only he could have taken Rupert Murdoch with him.

Bort - 2017-05-18

Ain't it funny how right-wing xenophobia has engulfed the nations where Rupert Murdoch holds sway, while places like Canada are still mostly sane.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-05-18

I often fall prey to the belief that the secret of immortality is to be the most evil and execrable piece of shit imaginable. Occasionally, life offers up counterexamples. Never enough to convince me otherwise, but enough to make me question the belief.

Meerkat - 2017-05-18

I hope he spends the rest of eternity being sodomised by anthropomorphic dolphins.

Meerkat - 2017-05-18

Assuming he wouldn't like that, I mean.

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-18

Meercat, why do you hate dolphins?

jfcaron_ca - 2017-05-18

Don't think Canada is special. We have our own Rebel Media that probably occupied a bunch of the space Fox & them do in the US & Australia. I'm generally concerned about Rebel Media's effect on the future of my country.

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-18

Everyine down here thinks Canada is a utopian wonderland of tolerance because you don't tend to hate black people up there.

Most of us don't know you* just hate people descended from the various pre-Colombian tribes instead.

*Not you personally, of course.

jfcaron_ca - 2017-05-18

Where there are actual significant populations of black people (i.e. Toronto, Montreal, and Nova Scotia), there are indeed problems with systemic racism. E.g. Toronto police are carding young black men & then later getting mistreated for being "known" to police.

But yeah the systemic racism against First Nations, Metis, and Inuit is something that brings together most Settler Canadians. =\

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-18

I'm not too surprised, I got the "Canada doesn't ahve racism against black people" bit from a folk singer I used to do tour planning for as an intern in college who said when he first up to Canada in his early 20s it was a revelation because it was the first time in his life he could walk down the street and not feel separate, he was just another person not a black man. But then by the second or third day he realized in was just because it was happening to a different group, and that was when he first really understood that, in his words, "everyone in the world is just playing a game of 'choose your nigger'" and it just happened that in Montreal in the 80s it wasn't him.

Last time I was in Montreal the last big hockey game of the season happened and the streets were mobbed with drunk hockey fans doing what they do. There were 5 or 6 police officers walking down the street I was on arresting everyone who was obviously native and ignoring everyone else.

We all suck.

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-18

But Roger Ailes sucked a lot more than most of us, and the only regret I have about him dying is that he escaped.

15th - 2017-05-18

Sometimes heaven calls Earth for an angel.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2017-05-18

Have fun in hell fat fuck. Can't wait for Murdoch to join you next.

jangbones - 2017-05-18

I can't delight in anyone's death.

However, Roger Ailes did more to damage America and make it a worse place than any person in the past thirty years.

simon666 - 2017-05-18

Relief is an okay response to someone's death.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-05-18

I can! I'm going to have a fruit pie and not merely delight in Ailes' death, but have a little impromptu dance! Here I go!

betabox - 2017-05-18

Rejoicing in the removal of evil is perfectly acceptable, and indeed laudable.

jangbones - 2017-05-18

I am neither proud nor ashamed that I can't revel in the death of bad people.

Actually it's probably a personality flaw.

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-18

Even I can rejoice at this one.

infinite zest - 2017-05-18

Still getting his dick sucked from beyond the grave I see, at least it wasn't forced..

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-18

raw hamburger

Bort - 2017-05-18

His name basically means "erectile dysfunction".

Two Jar Slave - 2017-05-18

I don't really know who this guy is, but GOOD RIDDANCE.

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-18

My first comment on the video I posted says all you need to know.

Two Jar Slave - 2017-05-19

Nasty.

Ninehells - 2017-05-18

Doesn't quite offset the loss of Chris Cornell, but I'll take what I can get.

Binro the Heretic - 2017-05-18

Rot in Hell, you miserable sack of shit.

Enjoy - 2017-05-18

I can't quite tell the difference between the Left and the Westboro Baptist Church

Binro the Heretic - 2017-05-18

You can't tell the difference between people who hate Hitler and people who hate Rosa Parks?

Fuck you.

15th - 2017-05-18

Enjoy goes up to 11.

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-18

Raw hamburger.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-05-19

The difference is, we hate people for what they've done, not what they are. Stop doing shitty things.

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-19

Most of us, there's a small percentage who hate people for who they are on the left, too, and they're always trotted out as examples but they're pretty rare. I've lived in some of the most liberal places in the USA for my entire life and I've met maybe, MAYBE, 5 people who fit the "intolerant left" stereotype in my lie, and that is being generous.

The right you don't have to meet, they yell about it on the subway, they caravanned through town in their SUVs by the dozens blowing air horns at minorities and blasting Dixie from a portable PA system on the back of an American Flag festooned pickup for over an hour a couple days after the election last year. They elect state reps who publicly called for Muslim concentration camps in centeral RI last fall.

On the other side, umm, I'm struggling to think of much but 5 or 6 years ago a friend of a friend who was in the ISO made some comment about how Bob Dylan should be shot because he' a tool of the patriarchy. That's just about all I've got for personal experience.

Oscar Wildcat - 2017-05-19

See, you're all misunderstanding Enjoy. He's complimenting the Left, they're becoming more like his party.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2017-05-19

>>I can't quite tell the difference between the Left and the Westboro Baptist Church.

I can see why. You appear to be dumber than a bowl of potato salad.

Rolling Stone described Roger Ailes as "One of the Worst Americans ever". That's pretty valid.

A huge plurality of people who voted for the Donald Trump train wreck clusterfuck did so because they wanted to "make liberals' heads explodes" I'm sure there are people who voted for Hillary Clinton for similar reasons. It's all about aggravation and a delicious tears.

I read comments after a particularly crazy statement by Trump, and he'll be praised for pissing liberals off, as if that's the whole point. No one bothers to explain how trolling the Democrats is a political strategy for making the government work better. It's no longer the point.

Right Wing Media is a pretty good example of the limitations of a free market . Competition between various conservative voices isn't going to favor the most intelligent and thoughtful voices. It's much more likely to favor the angriest, meanest, most outrageous voices. Rush Limbaugh gets attention from the mainstream media when he accuses Michael J. Fox of faking Parkinson, or when he slut-shames a woman for wanting health care.

When they lose, they respond by becoming angrier, and meaner, and more bellicose. When they lose, they respond by becoming angrier, and meaner, and more bellicose.

The most Democratic thing about Conservative media is how it translated to the internet, and into the economics of you-tube attention whoring. Anybody can become a youtube celebrity if they can crank out a dozen badly researched off-the cuff diatribes on the Sarkeesian Menace. Snot-nosed kids like Mr. Repizion and creepy rape apologists like the amazing atheist have become influential figures. Remember Trump's video criticizing the female Ghostbusters? It wasn't random. Trump and his handlers turned the whiny, mindless gamergate mob into a political force, the alt-right.

Roger Ailes did this, as much as any one person. We're all living in the world he made. He got rich doing it. He harassed women. He gave us bullshit like the war on Christmas, the mosque at ground zero, anchor babies, Birthers, the tea party. He bacame wealthy through his empire of stupidity. And now stupidity is on the throne.

I can be angry about this, but I don't hate Ailes. Maybe that's because he seems so soulless. And maybe that's my delusion. I can't imagine him as happy, but maybe he was nmormal and sell adjusted and not just hollow and ugly all the way down.

Maggot Brain - 2017-05-18

It's been odd watching the responds from other news outlets. If you didn't know any better you can be forgiven for thinking he was a great football player.

"He changed the game"
"No one played the game like Ailes"
"You got to respect the man for how he played the game"

fuck that

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-19

I assume "the game" is creating a systematically abusive workplace environment for the female employees he groomed, sexually assaulted and blackmailed, but the sad thing is even by that metric he was certainly talented but no great innovator.

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-19

I mean, I've known a bunch of people who work at Akai/Alesis/Numark over the years and it's kind of an open secret that the CEO (he may have retired a few years back and I forget which of the pre-merger compaies he came from, Akai or Alesis) has a long history of pulling similar shit (the one that sticks with me is him calling a woman from middle management into the boardroom and just pulling his dick out and telling her to suck it or pack her bags -she opted for the second one) and then settling out of court for massive sums but with NDAs so they couldn't talk about it without him suing them into the dirt. Also a lot of the old, pre-buyout execs there are notorious cokeheads.

Ailes and his empire are gross but they aren't unique.

Jeriko-1 - 2017-05-19

Her look of utter disgust at her co-host is priceless.

Old_Zircon - 2017-05-19

Yeah.
