This should probably have been addressed to Trump, Kim Jong Un is the more rational actor in this situation, whereas Trump probably has no real understanding of the consequences if he just wakes up one morning with indigestion and decides to blow up a small country.

infinite zest - 2017-08-15

It probably would have if it was filmed on Monday instead of Sunday, given the hole he dug himself yesterday. Fucking Jimmy Fallon called out Trump as "not my president" on goddamn NBC yesterday. Shit's realer now in the era of "one day later.." :/

SolRo - 2017-08-15

If they filmed it on Monday then they would have missed how much deeper he dug the hole today.

and if they filmed today they would miss the excavator he brings in tomorrow.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-08-16

Sorry Jimmy, you fondled his hair and legitimized the man. He's 100% your president.

Nominal - 2017-08-16

The only thing more sickening than watching Trump supporters has been watching people like Fallon and Bill Burr, who definitely contributed to him winning, come to this amazing revelation how dangerous he is. A mere 9 months after they helped elect him!

infinite zest - 2017-08-16

Yeah honestly when you break it all down it was a ratings thing. I don't know enough about Jimmy Fallon to care either way, but since NBC and FOX are the only network channels we get, we usually catch a little bit of Fallon after the local news.. anyway it's historically been that late night hosts are for the most part apolitical, especially given the lineage. And even on election night, I was watching PBS Newshour and even they didn't call bullshit, since they're ostensibly objective. But I guess Colbert has really upset the paradigm and Fallon's the last one to finally let out personal views which must've been at least cathartic for him. So yeah, still evil puppets and their puppetmasters, but at least it's puppeting for Lorne Michaels and he's a Canadian muppet in the first place.

Chocolate Jesus - 2017-08-27

"When you break it all down"

you do know you're talking about Jimmy Fallon, right? why do all white liberals have such a grandiose way of speaking?

also have a bad habit of telling you "I don't really care one way or the other.." before making some pompous exegetical remark.

jfcaron_ca - 2017-08-15

I must disagree with the characterization of the USA as "mostly harmless".

SolRo - 2017-08-15

It's harmless to any country whose name rhymes with 'rowdy labia'

Should've been to the tune of "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina." YOU HAVE EXACTLY ONE JOB, WEIRD AL. THAT IS SINGING DIFFERENT WORDS TO ESTABLISHED SONGS.

il fiore bel - 2017-08-16

So you don't listen to Weird Al?

garcet71283 - 2017-08-16

No, that's being saved for Don't Cry for Me Expired Tuna

infinite zest - 2017-08-16

He spent most of the week writing with Sondheim only to find out that "How do you solve a problem like Korea" isn't location-specific enough for this context, had to write one of the originals that appears on every one of his albums and everybody always skips ('cept Dare to be Stupid cuz that's my jam)

Caminante Nocturno - 2017-08-16

One extra star for Weird Al.

Anaxagoras - 2017-08-16

Weird Al is an auto-five, but this wasn't one of his better efforts.

infinite zest - 2017-08-16

While there's the very real possibility that a North Korea song has been floating around up in his noggin ever since they threatened nukes on the US in the first place some time back, from writing a song from farm-to-table in under a week is impressive even if it were to resort to "Judge Scalia" or something, which this song did not.

cognitivedissonance - 2017-08-16

He probably had a week to write and orchestrate it, tops.

Hooker - 2017-08-16

Yeah, what are you honestly expecting here?

Anaxagoras - 2017-08-17

I don't know if I was "expecting" anything, but this song was utter shit. Not at all clever, and the jokes ranged from "completely bland" to "mildly irritating".

CD & IZ might be right, and this might be the best that could be expected. If so, then Oliver shouldn't have invited Weird Al (much as I love him) onto the show.

Chocolate Jesus - 2017-08-27

Look at these dummies go into contortions to defend the thing they like. The DPRK did not 'threaten the US in the first place' you dumb asshole. The US maintains 90 bases there, threatens them daily.

We killed 1/3 of their population, maybe thats where their hypersensitivity towards threats of annihilation comes from.

Why don't you read for a change? Even the recent 'Guam threats' were a response to a specific US threat. DPRK did not wake up and decided to target Guam. It was a response to US ICBM threats.

Fuck you jingos and your infantile hobbies, you're all useful racists. Every last one of you who supports this kind of talk.

Anaxagoras - 2017-09-01

Holy shit, you fucking jackass. A counterthreat IS a threat.

What you meant to say is that their threats were justified. And you'll have to do a whole lot better than "Many of their people were killed many years ago" to make up for their continual belligerence. See, they literally single-handedly started the war, and in war people get hurt. Yes, we committed war crimes, but their hypersensitivity is entirely because they're dumbasses. (Or, to be more accurate, it's because the regime needs and external boogeyman in order to keep their citizens in line.)

Pick up a book, indeed. Physician, heal thyself.

Chocolate Jesus - 2017-09-03

the us provoked north koreans into crossing the 38th parallel through continuous guerilla attacks. when the north koreans defended themselves the us used it as justification for war.

Chocolate Jesus - 2017-09-03

this was all orchestrated by the cia, and the ostensible goal was to contain communism. the stated reasons and objectives of us participation in korea were totally fake, like they were with every us war before and since.

Chocolate Jesus - 2017-08-21

THE DPRK HAS NEVER NUKED OR INVADED ANYONE YOU RACISTS. AND NO THEY DID NOT 'INVADE' THE SOUTH.

Even KJU's supposed Guam threat was provoked. Try actually reading for once.

Chocolate Jesus - 2017-08-21

and weird al has always been terrible music for white suburban infants.

Chocolate Jesus - 2017-08-21

best case for white genocide after the african holocaust and the colonization of amerikkka.

TheyUsedDarkForces - 2017-08-21

Is that... Is that you, Ice Cube?

Chocolate Jesus - 2017-09-05

"Yes, we committed war crimes, but their hypersensitivity is entirely because they're dumbasses."

enshrining this to venerate in the future
