jangbones - 2017-11-15 if you cut the taxes on the polluters, they would finally be able to do something about it

godot - 2017-11-16 Carbon's not the main issue here, its generation plants running on India's high ash coal, without the flue-gas desulphurizers used in the developed world for decades.
All new cars are required to have catalytic converters, but reformulated gas for fall/winter and catalytic converters on all commercial trucks would help too.
|
godot - 2017-11-16 Also, India is planning on tripling the number of coal plants between 2020 -2030. Of the 200 planned, 10 will have desulfurizers. Who knows how many will have scrubbers.
|
SolRo - 2017-11-18 Just having a catalytic converter doesn't mean a car magically emits nothing but CO2 and steam. Even in the USA, California requires more efficient converters than the rest of the country.
Also india has a lot of vehicles powered by 2-stroke oil burners, nearly antique diesel work trucks, wood/coal burning stoves, etc etc that all do their little part to contribute.
it's a libertarian paradise!

Traffic laws might help this too. Seriously, it's like Fury Road in India.

If you look up the weather for Mumbai, it always says "Smoke", it's been like that for years. The weather app on my phone even has animated smoke. Someone had to animate that.

Well at least this way people can be hidden from onlookers while publicly shitting, and the drivers passing through can't see those piles of shit everywhere.
Silver linings people!
