Oh, I didn't know they put any of the 9 Lives stuff to animation until this week.
Anyway, it was a little weird to have it set at a university instead of the church, and also having humans instead of cats (especially with those names). Also, I don't remember Tanya being that funny. Definitely more PG than G. Glad they left in the Spayed joke. Overall, I found it enjoyable.
It doesn't look nearly as good as the book version but near-photorealistic anthropomorphized cat people would have taken a large team of artists years to animate by hand in the days before CGI was advanced enough to do such things.
I do like how the human women aren't drawn in the typical Garfield style and it's also notable how Jon, Odie, and the other supporting characters didn't really show up in this special outside of the bookend segments other than on the "Wanted Dead or Alive" poster as an "Easter Egg".
