dubz - 2017-12-08 A year or two ago I would have hated this trailer, but after GITS it's nice to see a western anime adaptation really stick with the look of the original art.
The characters look like they are supposed to look.

StanleyPain - 2017-12-09 Alita was actually set in the US, with characters intended to be basically American descendants (though stylized artistically as the typical anime people), so I don't think whitewashing will be an issue. At least, I would hope.

I want to hate on this, but I'm actually gonna be open minded because 1.) I have a soft spot for cyberpunk movies 2.)I shit all over Ghost In the Shell pretty badly as a kneejerk reaction and after seeing it a couple times I actually warmed up to it and kinda felt it was a lot better than I (or a lot of people) gave it credit for.
To be honest, the eyes thing is less a problem for me than the fact it's being directed by Robert Rodriguez who is kind of "Tarantino-lite" and doesn't really seem to have the sophistication for anything behind grindhouse stuff or things like Spy Kids. To me, that's the biggest stumbling block.
