Fake. I’ve seen Volcano, I know how fast lava is and what it does to firemen.

Don't forget transit workers.

good lord, how will they ever escape?

I've been practicing avoiding hot lava since I was about 5 years old. I think I'm ready for this kind of thing.

There are people who die in mudslides, people will die in lava flows and scrub fires.

Hazelnut - 2018-05-09

Much like regular fires, the smoke kills a lot more people than the heat.

Mudslides hit fast and typically without warning.

I don't know anything about lava flows but I'd sure be worried about one creeping up behind me while I was busy gawking at the one in front of me.

I had the chance to visit Volcanoes National Park 15 years ago, during a mild lava flow/eruption period. You just hike out into a lava field up to the lava; we hike out at dusk and were there in the dark with the field only illuminated by the flows nearby and farther up the mountain, shooting out of the hillside in bright orange-red fountains. The lava was viscous, and not chunky like it is in this video, moving only about an inch a day, while I was there. You could walk right up to it, the lava, as close as you could stand the heat, which was about 3-4 feet, in my case. It was strange. There were no safety structures. It was just you and the lava. I suppose the intensity of the experience, including the heat and sulfuric smell on the senses, is so powerful that it overrides any possibility of self harm and need for safety related things. It is profound and sublime to see the Earth's innards bubble up to the surface forming new land before one's eyes.

"I think it's faster than a turtle can move"

Well, grab yourself a turtle and find out.
