How do you talk about Buster Keaton's legacy without even mentioning Pasolini or Mehmood or Russ Meyer (all of whom were obviously heavily influenced influenced by Keaton and Chaplin and all of whom were massively influential themselves)?

Even if you grant that this series focuses mostly on American cinema, how do you open with that famous train shot and NOT mention Russ Meyer's black and white period? Not going to say we wouldn't have had Scorcese or Tarantino or Lynch or even Tim Burton without Meyer, but their movies would have sure been shot and edited differently without him.

This channel definitely gets credit for plugging F Is For Fake a few years back, though.

Oh, throw Altman into that list of directors whose work would have been a lot different without Russ Meyer.

Really enjoyed this video, want to know more.

OZ, what's the link from Buster Keaton to Pasolini? I'm pretty ignorant about movies.

Give the guy a break. He didn't mention all those connections because he's making 8 minute videos rather than 30 minute "video essays" that are all the rage now.

Don't get me wrong; I really dig video essays. But this guy was doing a different thing, and in order to do that thing, he has to not mention *a lot*.

BTW, I'm a long time fan of this guy's videos. He did a really good job on educating me.
