Apparently Bubba was some Disney executive's pet idea and his inclusion was a requirement for the show getting a second season. It's really telling that as soon as he was added to the show the writers had no idea what to do with Bubba, and all he ever did was follow the nephews around and occasionally fall on his ass.

Eventually he just disappeared from the show without explanation and no one minded. Bubba did not die on the way back to his home planet, because that would assign him more backstory than he deserved.
