The 'taxi industry', by the way, is organized drivers who managed to keep being an owner/operator of a cab one of the few jobs you could actually work up to the American dream with. Get a mortgage on a taxi medallion and you could have a nice nest egg to retire with, provided you worked your ass off. Now you can work your ass off for side-job money so VC types can make dumb bets. And depending on how it all implodes, we get either basically the same cab service minus worker rights or no cab service at all!
