I'm ashamed to be so much of a nerd I understand the backstory.

In the source comic that tied into the first Star Trek reboot a bunch of Romulan refugees sought Federation assistance. Nero, who hadn't jumped back in time yet became enraged. He started shooting up the refugee ships because he saw them seeking Federation help as a betrayal of their ideals. The trailer even shows what looks like a badly mangled Nero on a gurney, which could mean his so called death in the reboot was just him being yeeted back to the 24th century. Where no doubt he would have his jimmies jostled upon finding out that most of the Romulan survivors and their descendants appear to have moved on and couldn't give a shit about the days of the empire.

Basically if any of this is true it was the one thing that nagged me in the day. The whole -backstory- of the reboot seemed like way more interesting than the rebooted timeline itself.

Wow.

See, my mind just went "That must be Data's daughter."

Cuz I can only remember silly things like that.

Dr. Lobotomy - 2019-07-22

Wasn't Nero just the captain of a civilian mining ship who went nuts over losing his family?

Stars for improperly stored Data.

SolRo - 2019-07-21

Seemed like a pretty nice drawer for storing your unused electronics

Chicken the Did - 2019-07-21

Just make sure the Data does not become corrupted!

SolRo - 2019-07-22

He’s already pretty fragmented

Hooker - 2019-07-21

I guess Data felt insecure about his eyes going grey with old age and that's why he's wearing obvious contact lenses?

IrishWhiskey - 2019-07-23

It's technically not Data but his imperfect knock-off, so there's a built-in, in-universe explanation. One that I wish didn't have to exist.

Star Trek Nemesis would be the worst thing they ever did, if not for the episodes with Joe Piscopo and racism. I don't know whether to appreciate them trying to fix the stupid decision to kill off Data for no reason, or hate that the show is reminding me of the plot for "let's do Star Trek II again, but this time with rapey Picard clones and zero cleverness."

I look at this and say "It can't be any worse than discovery." I'll give it a twirl.

casualcollapse - 2020-10-02

So what's your final opinion?

betamaxed - 2020-10-02

Absolute shameful garbage.

I have cautious optimism but I want there to be some honest-to-goodness space exploration in this and not just pew pew pew phaser blasts.
