Since the start of the protests I've seen photos and videos pop up on imgur claiming that the PLA is about to take over, but so far it's all been fake agitation. Please don't spread that kind of shit around, it's hard to get out of the upholstery.

As a current resident of a current democratic dystopia, I can attest that democracy isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

It's bullshit. Health, democracy, and human decency are indeed what they're cracked up to be. They're just vulnerable. They need defending, not bitching.

Bullshit. Democracy is only as good as the populace practicing it. We Americans have roughly half the population that's dumb enough to believe Fox news and/or the Russian bots. We are, on average, shit, so democracy isn't real valuable here.

There's no way to "defend" American democracy; it's rotten to the core, since its populace is.

This is all a bit far afield, since the video is about Hong Kong, and it looks like those folks deserve a democracy. I'm just saying that democracy, as an ideal, isn't inherently good.
