Wow. I remember kinda liking this show growing up, although I didn't understand why the left swooned over it. (It seemed painfully milquetoast left-of-center to me.)

But damn... it's practically unwatchable for me now. The way the show shoehorned jokes into damn near every conversation was really jarring & unpleasant. And the jokes weren't even that good, usually. In contrast, the way Roseanne worked jokes into the show still holds up; they're funny while at the same time feeling as if real-world people might make them.

BTW, this youtuber's other videos are all really solid, with one exception: his debunking of pit bulls. Although he's right that pit bull bans are bullshit, he's wrong to completely discount the pro-ban arguments; some dog breeds actually do have behavioral dispositions based on their genetics, although none (that I know of) have an anti-human disposition so strong that good training can't control it.

Pitbulls are definitely impulsive but the well cared for ones I've known in my life are consistently the sweetest dogs I've ever met, the only real issue is they act like huge, 90 pound puppies and try to sit in your lap. These aren't even particularly well trained dogs we're talking about, just dogs that were raised from puppies in health environments by good owners and were used to being around strangers. I can see how pitbulls could be a riskier than average dog I guess.

But yeah, pitbull bans are like the assault rifle bans bans of the dogosphere - they're simple, look good in the papers and don't really address any of the actual underlying problems.

Sitcoms are the lowest form of entertainment. There are lepers eating their own scabs that are funnier than any sitcom has ever been.
