I'm not a fan of Shane, but apologizing is the right thing to do, and I'm not going to criticize someone for doing the right thing, even for the "wrong" reason. His motives are his own business.

I can see how this escaped yogarfield, but those who can read English will note that I already said I don't care about his motives.

I know Shawn's content sucks, and I intend to I continue hating his content, and not patronizing it.

I absolutely object to this idea that "I respect racists who own their racism, but people who apologize for doing racist stuff are just disingenuous wimps."

Also since I'm an old white guy, I'm not sure why anyone should care about whether I care. But I do know that as an old white guy there was once volumes about racism that I did not understand, and there still may be volumes more that are yet to be revealed. And making mistakes is part of the way we move forward.

If we choose the moment when someone admits he was wrong to attack him, we're making it easier to pretend 's done nothing wrong. I don't know about anyone else, but the only reason I know Shane Dawson appeared in blackface at one time is because he made this apology video. I think l may have been the first one to spot this video and mention it at MNR, because I did think it was funny

But he did the right thing. The way to move forward is to say when you were wrong, AND NOT DO IT ANY MORE. If Shane needs money, that's not necessarily so bad. Everyone I know needs money. But actions are what counts. I will judge you by your actions, not your intentions.
