The Star Wars special editions of their day.

Colorization isn’t vandalism unless you destroy or discontinue the original versions. Any other argument is a bunch of hipster diatribe. If colorization makes it so more people see good classic cinematic works that’s not a bad thing.
The Star Wars special editions sort of qualify because you can’t legally buy the original versions now.
During quarantine spring cleaning, I found my VHS copies of the original trilogy packs they sold in the mid 90s right before the special edition releases.
Even though I'm 99.99% certain I'll never hook up a working VCR ever again and thus they're useless, I couldn't bring myself to throw them away because of that.
Yeah, I don't give a shit about Star Wars really and my laserdisc player broke over a decade ago but I still hang on to my deluxe laser disc editions of the first two movies (both free!) on principle because they were the highest quality releases of the pre-CGI versions.
