"Tragedy plus time equals comedy"

Except for the end bit, this doesn't really hold up in 2020 imho.
Like when he says (paraphrasing) "if someone said they're going out for raping and pillaging, you'd think that was just a bit of fun! But if they left out the pillaging part, not so much." I think raping and pillaging together already sounds pretty bad because we're much more sensitized to the term rape than in the 90s or early 2000s. I don't think a reasonable person today would say "rape and pillage" sounds like a bit of fun, or that they'd use it jokingly to mean having fun.
E.g.: The Evolution Control Committee has a famous song "Rocked by Rape" which is more shocking to people now than when it came out.
E.g. 2: Maybe this is just my own personal growth but in high school (99-'02) I would constantly hear things like "yeah I got raped by that math exam" or "and then I picked up a quad damage and raped all of them". I'm not surrounded by teenagers anymore but when I do hear them talk, I don't hear that kind of stuff.
Anyways that's my theory I hope you like it.
Nothing to add, that all scans, thank you for taking the time for your response
And of course I've heard rocked by rape, I play it generally once a year, helps remind me how superficial and fake even the news is
