Slow & painful deaths for all Senate republicans and Trump's circle of enablers

Marlon Brawndo - 2021-01-04

Trump is fat and elderly so he's probably going to die quickly.

Honestly, it saddens me to see him go completely fucking crazy.

Hazelnut - 2021-01-04

Funny, I feel the same about most of his party

Two Jar Slave - 2021-01-03

Yup, this is what a hip, cool post-democracy looks like, except the other guy on the call is Trump's half-brother or owes him a favour or some shit. Give it ten years and we'll get there.

SolRo - 2021-01-03

I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the GOP will focus on installing rabid party loyalists to top elections positions in swing states to make sure only the right votes are counted.

teethsalad - 2021-01-03

oh yeah they're going to learn all the wrong lessons from this and just get exponentially shittier

jangbones - 2021-01-03

exy - 2021-01-03

I like that in the midst of this batshittery, he paused to compliment Ryan Germany on his last name.

Cena_mark - 2021-01-04

What scary is that he sounds no different or any more informed than the Dale Gribble types I know.

Lock Him Up

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2021-01-03

I was just coming here to post this.
Holy fucking shit.

Hazelnut - 2021-01-04

If I'd gotten a jar in 2016 and thrown in a penny every time I thought 'Jesus, there's no way anyone can just shrug off this shit' I'd... probably need a lot more jars.

Binro the Heretic - 2021-01-03

He'll just say, "Yeah, so what?" and Congress will just shrug and say, "Well, he's got us there."

ashtar. - 2021-01-04

The GOP care about power, not process. The democrats have the opposite problem.

Binro the Heretic - 2021-01-04

The Democrats' two biggest problems are:

1 - "If we upset the moderate & undecided voters, they might vote Republican."

2 - "If we win, we have to actually do something and can't blame our inaction on Republican obstruction."

Hazelnut - 2021-01-04

I mean, logically those SHOULD be the two problems of any serious political party. The problem with the Republicans is they've abandoned all pretense to seriousness:

1. If we allow all the votes to be counted, we can't win
2. If we make any attempt at reason or sanity, the 2024 hopefuls trying to "out-Trump" each other will howl for blood

roscar - 2021-01-03

What I'm getting out of this is that he actually believes the fraud lies. It's not an act. This is the key to his unwavering support (which this tape will do nothing to alter), that has baffled so many for so long. He's just as much as a dumb fuck as they are and he thinks, and more importantly says, what they think. And they love it.

SolRo - 2021-01-03

Nope. Same old scam he’s been using his whole life.

Sure were ‘a lot of people saying’ that Obama was a secret Muslim Kenyan, and all the ‘unbelievable things’ his private investigator found on Obama!

If trump wants to lie (and when doesn’t he?) or just talk out his ass without any evidence, he just says “people are saying” blah blah. It’s a con. As long as he keeps repeating the con convincingly then a bunch of idiots think he has secret information.

exy - 2021-01-03

I think he's so bought into the POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING that he has actually kind of convinced himself that he is not lying. Or rather, that "truth" is not any reflection of objective reality, but what's accepted as real. I think "alternative facts" was a phrase used in earnest.

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2021-01-03

Gonna agree with Exy here. I think that Trump, though his thinking is mostly dark and conspiratorial, does tap into a part of the American character that think that believing in something -- or in yourself -- hard enough will basically make things real.

As for the rest of it, I think he believes in what he believes when he needs to believe it. True and false are not qualities that bother him all that much.

ashtar. - 2021-01-04

Truth and falsehood do not exist for him. His words do no refer to states of the world, they are tools to manipulate others. He does not understand that other people are not like this, he just thinks they're suckers.

SolRo - 2021-01-04

Self delusion is a nice theory but again I refer to the times he literally lies about things he knows are false in the same vague way, like all the shocking evidence his fictional private investigator found on Obama. How he really wants to but can’t release tax returns because of audit. Etc.

Now sometimes the “people say” thing is because he picked up some trash idea on Twitter or alt right media but can’t say he’s making policy decisions because of rando tweets. But also it’s used when he can’t think of anything credible to say in his defense on an issue, so “lots of people” agree with whatever stupid thing he said or did.

He’s been a conman for most of his adult life, he openly admitted to that on multiple occasions. Don’t excuse his genuine shitty behavior and personality as some psychological defect.

Hazelnut - 2021-01-04

SolRo can't accept that people are capable of self-deceit because then he'd have to look in a mirror. But yeah: Trump & his followers have so unmoored themselves from factual truth that the concept as we know it doesn't exist for them.

Cena_mark - 2021-01-04

He sounds no different from right wing conspiracy peddling like Alex Jones. Just ranting and ranting. Repeating the same debunked theories over and over.

roscar - 2021-01-04

Now that I've read most of the transcript (what a slog), I'm leaning more towards exy's take. He just has no interest in hearing anything that goes against what he wants to be true. He has no interest or concern in finding out the objective truth, just in what he wants to be true.

I still think he personally believes every lie that he's spitting out of his mouth and that is what makes him so compelling to so many of his followers.

Cena_mark - 2021-01-04

I'm still a Georgia voter. You guys helped make this happen.

jangbones - 2021-01-04

Ossoff is a prig, but Warnock rules

Cena_mark - 2021-01-04

Sure, but better him than either of the RepubliKKKans

Violet Intents - 2021-01-05

And I forgot to press reply, my below comment is for you Cena...I'm a moron :/

Violet Intents - 2021-01-05

So what's it like over in your neck of the woods right now Cena considering all that's going down today?

Cena_mark - 2021-01-06

I'm an absentee military voter.
