I had a friend that got into meth. Well, sort of an acquaintance. Pretty normal person who had had some troubles but was getting her stuff together. She later posted on facebook that she was outside with nowhere to sleep, so I checked in on her. Had lost like 50 pounds, ranting and raving about all kinds of sinister conspiracies. Like, some all powerful criminal organization stalking her. Took her to the hospital later because she thought she was having a heart attack; just insanely high bp and heart rate. Doctor was like "you will die" but she just claimed it was normal.

Figured there wasn't much I could do and just cut that tie after buying her dinner. Saw her name in the paper as one of the homeless people that died last winter at the local shelter.

Bad stuff.

Officer Yao seems like a pretty decent cop.

Yeah Officer Yao tried very hard to give Ethan a chance, and this is unfortunately the outcome of a broken society. At some point a naked guy is trying to kill you and you can no longer help them.

Also, sorry about your friend. It was very gracious of you to take them to dinner.

He decently put a man down who had mental issues and was no threat. I guess that's how this works.

Crackersmack - 2021-03-22

100% unnecessary shooting, the cop had plenty of time to holster his gun and draw his tazer because it was clearly evident in the video that the guy was unarmed after he jumped through that window.

This man is dead because the cop 1.) didn't want blood on him and 2.) felt he had a "clean shoot" legally. The cop was never in serious danger.

so when Ethan said to the Officer that he was going to kill him, was that a joke or locker room talk? Which one?

Crackersmack - 2021-03-22

Police should expect to have to deal with mentally ill people that say mentally ill shit, and if this cop can't handle that then he needs to find another line of work.

themilkshark - 2021-03-22

Who do you think is going to do it if this guy doesn't? Most other cops would have shot this guy instantly with no attempt at personal appeal, this guy tried several. The meth head had anal bleeding he was shouting about. Basically his drug abuse has made his life and his health unmanageable, he was self destructing. Life is so bleak for some, actually a lot of folks, that suicide by cop is a real thing. Yes this guy was "put down" and believe me, he was tired of repeating the cycle and was willing to fight a cop to force the guy to end him.

Crackersmack - 2021-03-23

wait are you making the argument that the guy should have been euthanized?

ashtar. - 2021-03-23

He was 10 feet away. It would take a second or so to holster the pistol, and another 2 seconds to draw and aim the taser, best case. Freeman could have cleared 10 feet in 3 seconds, at which point Yao would be in a close quarters fight with a guy on meth with Yao's gun in play.

themilkshark - 2021-03-25

That wasn't euthanization idiot it was an angry person threatening a reasonable person over and over who was a known helpless case that is a casualty of the system ALREADY. He was a dead man walking WITH A BLEEDING ANUS ready to beat up a cop until he was shot. Both guys knew how it was gonna end. Shut up and stop being a prick Crackersmack. OH WAIT YOU CAN'T

ashtar. - 2021-03-28

I wouldn't say it was a "good" shoot, but it was an objectively reasonable one, given the circumstances and the threat he posed. It still really sucks that a human life was ended, and his life wasn't any less valuable because of his drug use or mental illness.

casualcollapse - 2021-03-28

For the record I believe he should have been tasered
