Comics are trying to include different body types. The Critical drinker talks about this:

this has nothing to do with her figure, nice gaslighting

poorwill - 2021-07-17

the critical drinker sucks dogshit, for those who are curious about that link. incredibly embarrassing neckbeard validation channel.

The Critical Drinker: what would happen if The Armored Skeptic tried to ape Plinkett.

Lef - 2021-07-17

Critical drinker had 3 decent jokes that he recycles constantly.

5 stars for spending 1/4 million minimum on a cartoon that does not entertain.

The golden age of cartoons was too short.

Mister Yuck - 2021-07-17

I’m sure the authors are devastated that their comic book for tween girls isn’t connecting to you grown men.

SolRo - 2021-07-17

But all media is supposed to cater to MEEEE!!!

Cena_mark - 2021-07-17

Comic book nerds used to try convincing others that the medium was capable of telling all kinds of stories, but now that different types of stories are being told, they want to cry about it. The different body types is kinda a big point in this comic/show. It's a case of dealing with inadequacy because her mom is a superhero/supermodel. Also it's the "stop bringing politics into everything" crowd who is trying to make everything political. They bring up the political bullshit in trying crying about representation in these comics. The existence of LGBTQ people, racial minorities, and fat people isn't political, crying about it is.

Albuquerque Halsey - 2021-07-17

No sneed to be upset, sir.

the reason I submitted this video is because it's a based on a cringy book where an author wrote a non-canon character that looks exactly like the author.

roscar - 2021-07-17

I mean, this is a huge problem with our current media environment. You have this very loud whiny group who go into hysterics (pun intended) because somebody dared to make a piece of media that doesn't conform to a certain sensibility. If said piece of media isn't that great and you want to critique it, you have to go through a giant rigamarole to make sure people don't assume you're aligned with the petty man children who don't want anybody else playing with their toys.

Cena_mark - 2021-07-17

So the lead character is a self insert of the author, Stephen King does it all the time.

casualcollapse - 2021-07-17

Lef.. aren't you anti-vax?

Lef - 2021-07-17

Hey, casualcollapse , aren't you anti-science?

Cena_mark - 2021-07-18

Anti-vax is anti science. Covid is still killing about 10k Americans a month. I'd rather resurrect Bin Laden than have anti-vax fucks around as anti-vax fucks have already killed far more Americans than Bin Laden could have ever dreamed.

ashtar. - 2021-07-18

This isn't any dumber than teen titans or whatever.

SolRo - 2021-07-18

I haven’t seen an issue with legitimate reviews of controversial media. Because professional reviewers talk about the substance rather than spending most of the review whining about how no one should be allowed to gender or race swap a character because (insert dog whistle of your choice) and that would destroy the sanctity of (corporate franchise property less than 50 years old). Also lots of preemptive complaining about cancel culture to try head off any criticism.

Rosebeekee - 2021-07-17

I had a depressing thought the other day. Book stores like Chapters basically group comics into two sections. There’s Manga and then basically everything else, which is usually American comics. Manga generally is easier to sort on a shelf, where as American comics, because it rehashes and retcons characters all the time, is a giant clusterfuck.

And then you have the European and South American comics I love so much. They don’t get translated into English nearly as much as Japanese/Korean comics, but when they do, they get tossed into the garbage pit that is American comics and are impossible to find on a shelf.

Nominal - 2021-07-19

No conversation about South American comics should go by without mentioning the absolute batshit insane Brazilian Mega Man series.

https://readcomiconline.li/Comic/Novas-Aventuras-de-Megaman

The first issue is only a 3/10 for how crazy the thing gets.

- Hyper violent bloodshed
- Roll naked half the time
- Roll blown apart every issue as a fetish
- Mega Man ranting against socialism
- The mayor of Sao Paulo as a robot boss, armed with "electoral missiles"

And more!

Pillager - 2021-07-18

Was Starfire raped by a pig monster 15 years ago?

duck&cover - 2021-07-18

Yes, Professor Pyg.

Cena_mark - 2021-07-18

I think her father is Nightwing

themilkshark - 2021-07-18

She's not ugly enough, I'm not represented.

Gmork - 2021-07-19

the usual suspects are still trashpeople, what a shocker
