Oh Xi...

I mean it's pretty -obvious- hence why the CCP lost their shit over that Tigger and Winnie the Pooh meme.

Cena_mark - 2021-09-10

It's not capitalism vs communism, it's democracy vs authoritarianism. The GOP is very similar to the Chinese communist party

ashtar. - 2021-09-10

The CCP is competent.

Crackersmack - 2021-09-10

The world is going to be a better place when China becomes the preeminent superpower.

Cena_mark - 2021-09-10

I don't think anyone expects that. They just think the US will get better if we stop wasting money on overseas military engagements

Crackersmack - 2021-09-10

Fat chance of that happening.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2021-09-10

Funny how authoritarianism is perfectly fine when it's your side that's doing it.

Crackersmack - 2021-09-10

China is not exactly 'my side' but I appreciate how they recognize that gamers and kpop fans are a cancer on productive society.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2021-09-10

If you don't see authoritarianism on this scale as an issue, then I don't know what to tell you.

It's the same argument from the right. "I don't really care if they do really extreme things as long as they do the small things that cater to my elitist and pretentious views" on the left is simply "I don't really care if they do really extreme things as long as we can have mandated prayer in schools and everyone is forced to stand for the pledge of allegiance and abortion is completely outlawed."

I'm very pretentious and elitist, and while a modicum of cultural forcing might appeal to me, I know that it's not the right way to go about things, and that if a government has too much unquestioned power they can do some very evil things, and nobody will be able to stop them.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Crackersmack - 2021-09-10

Is it really all that authoritarian to recognize cultural rot and try to address it? China isn't making it illegal to be a gamer or a male kpop fan, they are just (correctly imho) acknowledging that a proliferation of men with these traits diminishes the society they are trying to build, and they are taking proactive educational steps to correct it. They aren't putting these people into camps.

Two Jar Slave - 2021-09-10

Cracker's final evolution into a dumpy wannabe brownshirt licking his lips at the thought of state power being used to oppress liberals is perhaps even less interesting than Kpop and eSports.

Crackersmack - 2021-09-10

"First they came for the gamers, and I did not speak out—because I was not a gamer.

Then they came for the femboys, and I did not speak out— because I was not a femboy.

Then they came for the capeshit movies, and I did not speak out—because I hated the capeshit movies.

Then they came for liberals—and there was no one left to speak for me."

Two Jar Slave - 2021-09-10

Thank you for posting such a tired joke to support my point.

SolRo - 2021-09-10

Right wing reactionary channel

ashtar. - 2021-09-10

Portal of evil?

Miss Henson's 6th grade class - 2021-09-10

I feel attacked, and my cat's pretty offended, too.

ashtar. - 2021-09-10

Weird that left and right wing authoritarians agree on patriarchy and the preservation of "traditional masculinity." It's almost like there's some sort of connection between authoritarianism and patriarchy.

Banning gamers is cool and based, however.

Crackersmack - 2021-09-10

Maybe they just have a definition of "toxic masculinity" that is informed by a different culture and different values.

Nominal - 2021-09-10

You can tell it's evil by the Gamestop font.

casualcollapse - 2021-09-15
